I had a partial thyroid removal in March 2023 my thyroid test results in April were

TSH 2.25 mU/L

T4 13.3 pmol/L

Do these results look ok.

I have not been put on any medication since the surgery but have begun to feel unwell and am considering getting more bloods done?

What was reason for partial thyroidectomy?

Have you ever had thyroid antibodies tested

Do you have thyroid results from pre surgery? It helpful to compare results with your normal.

Has FT3 been tested? this is the active thyroid hormone & often what affect symptoms the most.

hi my blood test results from pre surgery were

TSH 2.28 miu/L

T4 15.2 pmonl/L

Post surgery

TSH 2.25 miu/L

T4 13.3 pmol/L

Lab ranges are

TSH ( 0.35 - 5.5 miu/L)

T4 ( 10.5 - 21. pmol/L)

My left thyroid lobe was removed during a parathyroid operation, it contained a nodule and gland. I have parathyroid hyperplasia with only one gland remaining. My calcium and parathyroid hormone levels are normal since surgery

I have some symptoms that could be attributed to hypothyroidism.

I don’t think I have ever had T3 tested.

I am not on any medication for my thyroid.

Recommend you arrange a test with FT3 & thyroid antibodies, privately if necessary.

And was this test done early morning, ideally just before 9am and only drinking water between waking and test …this gives highest TSH

Important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12 levels too

Hello there, sorry you have started to feel unwell after your surgery. I had 7/8ths thyroid removal about 35 years ago and was left with no medication for almost 2 years by which time I was on my hands and knees. Only for the intervention of my then health visitor( thyroid problems started after sons birth) I dread to think what would have happened. Please get your bloods tested and post on the forum, don't rely on your GP to take the action needed. I had been having blood tests through my surgery and just kept being told all was fine which is so obviously wasn't. I always believed the GP must know best, oh how wrong I was. Our friends on this forum will let you know where you're at once they see your blood results. Don't forget to include the ranges as well. Good Luck to you
