I have advised to now stop Propylthiouracil as my thyroid levels were normal. I stopped this 3-weeks ago and wonder how long it would take to leave the system?

Propylthiouracil
The PTU medication is likely out of your system quite quickly but the lasting affect (of lowering production on new hormone) is likely not to be adjusted for up to 6 weeks.
Retest after 6 weeks after stopping PTU to check levels. TSH, FT4 & FT3.
What dose of PTU were you taking & for how long?
Why were you taking PTU & not the usual option of antithyroid (carbimazole) ? It help to know if carbimazole causes an issue.
What was cause of hyper? Have you had a positive TRab / TSI antibody result?
Usually it is best to reduce antithyroid dose slowly - until it can be seen it’s not required to keep levels in range. In some cases it better to stay on very low dose for 18 months or longer sometimes, before considering stopping to test remission.
Doctors have been reported as rushing this processing & stopping treatment early, when levels rise permanent treatment are encouraged.
