I recall that a few years ago many patients were refused Liothyronine because of its massive price rise.
I just came across a Tribunal decision where the pharma companies were fined for the increase and they appealed. In August 23 The Competion Appeal Tribunal dismissed the appeal so the fines of £millions stands. Does this mean they will be forced to reduce the price of Luithyronine?

This is my blog which shows what happened to the prices of liothyronine tablets in the UK from about 2013. As the prices have fallen, there has been no point continuing to update the graph. However, it is still relevant to the story:

And, if you are only just becoming aware, you might not know that there is a petition trying to persuade the government to allow some of the value of the huge fine to be used to fund thyroid research. (The fines primarily go straight to the treasury and are treated as general income. This would require the government to make a decision to fund thyroid research.)

T3 prescribing, is a huge scandal of dishonesty and ineptitude.
The dishonesty is from the Pharma company rebranding a generic to take advantage and introduce a 6000% price hike.
The ineptitude comes from the government and NHS for not simply taking their business elsewhere or use their huge buying clout to bargain the price down.
Instead the solution was, to take the easiest, no effort route for them and take all the patients, who really depended on this drug, off it.
