Detectable TSH

I remembered, I wanted to ask what is meant by “detectable” TSH when interpreting blood tests.

FYI range is 0.2 - 4.0 miu/L if that helps.

I tried to google research the answer, but I still don’t understand. It’s just so many numbers!

Edit: Range changed from optimal to actual range.

Detectable means recordable level test result.

So if results it below what a tests can detect it would be <0.0X. Usually <0.01 or 0.005.

0.02 is detectable.

0.2 - 2.0 - isn’t a typical range, it’s more like a optimal range.

Sorry, yes, that is the optimal range quoted by the local lab.

So, all of these <0.0X. <0.01 or 0.005. mean undetectable and from 0.02 is detectable? Have I understood that right?

It depends what the lab machine is able to detect / record.

It’s actually the < (less than symbol) which denotes the result as “undetectable” as it’s below what can be tested. So in the strictest sense 0.01 is recordable (if that what the lab machine is set to) but any lower can’t be detected.
