I would probably go back to a good high street optician and book an appointment for this morning for a second opinion - many of them have emergency appointments .

It sounds as if your double vision has been caused by trauma - if you didn’t already have double vision before you hit your eye I can’t imagine it is your thyroid although I suppose it could be - I had double vision when I had Graves - it wasn’t thyroid eye disease though, just weak muscles.

Get someone to check that you haven’t got dry eyes while you are there - in which case buy some preservative free eye drops. Good luck, I hope you get help.

Also, ask for a private test as they’ll do a full eye scan too which won’t happen on the NHS test. It was extremely useful as it can detect changes to the back of the eye/optic nerve that may explain some of the symptoms you’re experiencing. It’s only £50 for the private test, but worth every penny!

Time to retest thyroid now you have done 8 weeks taking levothyroxine correctly

If taking any vitamin supplements that contain biotin, stop these 5-7 days before test

all thyroid blood tests early morning, ideally just before 9am, only drink water between waking and test and last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test

This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip)

Private tests are available as NHS currently rarely tests Ft3 or all relevant vitamins

Yes, I'd recommend going back to the doctor because double vision is an underactive thyroid symptom and because of the nightmares which are throwing you out of bed. It may be that you need something to help your sleep pattern so your body does not move that much when you dream.
