I am on 100 mcg Levothyroxine. Am suffering with double vision, cough, unbalanced, cold hands, constipation, weight loss, speech problems is this to do with my pituartry gland (excuse spelling) I have just been to see a kinesiologist and she has given me ginkgo biloba to support it also magnesium and Fola Pro (folic acid). Any help would be appreciated.

I think you may be underdosed, if you are being prescribed. I wonder if you have antibodies? Did GP check?

This is a previous post which may be helpful:

Your symptoms do sound hypo so get your bloods checked. Get the earliest possible appointment and fast (you can drink water) and don't take levo for approx 24 hours and take after test. Get a print-out of your results with the ranges and post.

Ask GP for a full thyroid blood test (probably wont but ask anyway - in particular you want to know if you have sufficient T3 in your system which is the active hormone we need to function). A Free T3 test will confirm or otherwise.

If he's not tested Vitami B12, Vit D, iron, ferritin and folate ask for these too as we are usually deficient which can cause symptoms.

Do you have a copy of your latest labs? If not, your first step should be to get one. It is your legal right to have one, and you absolutely need to know what was tested, and what the results were.

If you Don't understand the results, just post them here and there will always be someone to explain them to you.

Cold hands, constipation are hypo symptoms, so it could be that you aren't on enough thyroid hormone replacement.

Problems with balance could be hypo, or could be you have low B12 - most hypos do. Did your kinesiologist do any tests before handing out suppléments? If not, that's most remiss of her. Taking folic acid will skew tests for B12. If you want to test your B12 now, you will have to be off the folic acid for about 2 months.

Folic acid is not fantastic, anyway. Methylfolate would have been better absorbed. Magnesium is good to take - how much are you on? I Don't know anything about ginkgo biloba, but a lot of people recommend it. Do you find it's helping in any way?

Take care. :)

PS I'm not a doctor, just sharing the fruits of my experience.

Thankyou very much. I only started the ginkgo today so do not know yet whether it is helping. Haven't started taking folic acid yet or magnesium. I will visit my doctor and get a blood test done. Mogregor
