Could this map be used in a different way to see where hotspots of thyroid disease may be located and then researched to see if environmental issues or medical interventions for various conditions are being used to name but a few as such an interactive map is invaluable.
Seems like a potentially good idea. Until you take into account that probably quite a few voters are friends/relatives of someone with thyroid issues, and don't have thyroid issues themselves. So for example, if there are twenty votes in an area, it's unlikely all twenty have thyroid issues.
You are absolutely correct, I didn't think of that. The idea is good though if a researcher could utilise the mapping software it could be very interesting if used in a survey to find where people actually lived with a Thyroid condition rather than a petition.
However, in order to map that, you need to find a suitable geographical database of where CCGs are and the areas they cover. And to really make sense, the populations - preferably at the very least divided into adults and children.
All of that might be readily available - I simply do not know.
It would be a minefield if doing the research as GP's used to prescribe at different levels, mine started me on Levothyroxine at a TSH of 7.61 and only one reading not two taken months apart, have always been suspicious that I never needed treatment although my TPO was 539.6. And never checked since.
Although the image I have posted is quite large, if you print it, you can probably make it much smaller and it will still work. You might just need to have the camera closer to the QR code.
For many of us, pointing our mobile phone camera at a QR code is an easy way of using web link.
Feel free to copy this code and paste it into any flyer or poster you might produce. Or add to any web pages you produce you make. And always print the actual link beside the QR code so everyone can see where it is supposed to take them.
