Thybon Henning on NHS

hello,

Is anybody able to advise of the way to get Thybon Henning on NHS? I currently have 2 x 10mcg daily and am considering of swapping that to 20mcg tablets to save the cost to NHS. I am asking about TH as I had some while abroad, and find them easier to split in half that other tablets.

thanks 😊

you can cut 20mcg into 2 x 10mcg with pill cutter or sharp craft scalpel

Presumably you are on morningside currently?

Very unlikely to get Thybon Henning on NHS and as a “special” prescription NHS quite likely to be charged higher price than currently paying for 10mcg tablets

yes, moringside. I struggled cutting the 10mcg in 5mcg in the past, tried various methods and tools (got about 5 different cutters). Each left with lots of bits I couldn’t scoop or gather to consume affecting the dosage. Do you know how much would TH 20mcg cost on NHS? Thanks 😊

If it helps, I just got 100 x thybon henning 20mcg tablets from Germany for €41, €15 of that was shipping, so it doesn’t break the bank if you really want / need it and have to go private. The cost of the prescription admin from the doc was free but I have seen him in the past for consults.

Hi, I’m intrigued by your answer. I used to use the route of UK private prescription sent to German pharmacy for my Thybon Henning but believed that this wasn’t possible after Brexit. Are you in the UK? Which pharmacy did you order from? I would love to do the same. The system used to work so well. I take 50 mcg each day. Thanks.

If your doctor works inside the EU you can get EU prescriptions that way. I believe you need to find a doc with an international prescribing license to be able to do it. Yes I am inside UK.

Have a hunch   helvella may know more on it than me.

No - I agree. If your doctor is an EU (probably EEA) doctor, and signs using those credentials (and whatever else like special forms - not sure of the details) it is OK.

However, even then, many pharmacies simply don't want to get involved and will refuse. After all, once they lost most UK custom, they probably can't see it being worth adding UK back onto their list for the occasional prescription.
