DNAblue Thyroid Genetic Traits

Hello! I am considering getting the DNAblue Thyroid Genetic Traits test from Blue Horizon, as I suspect I am a poor converter of T4 to T3. It looks as though it is a relatively new test and was wondering if anybody had experience of using it please?

To know if you are a poor converter you need your FT4 and FT3 tested at the same time, and compare them. A genetic test will only tell you if you have the possibility of being a poor converter, not if you really . :)

Yes I went on to get this test done after I had done the basic one and found I had the wonky DIO2 gene ( which in turn led to NHS Endo prescribed T3)... also bought it for my daughter to see what might lay ahead... she is thankfully potentially less wonky than I ( not that that stops things going awry)

Just waiting for the results from the add-ons as they were reduced as I'm testing all avenues at the moment to get a stake in the ground.... Zoe testing just underway 🤗

Just reading Dirty Genes a          radd heads-up which explains how even knowing where your genes are pointing they can go 'dirty' or wonky ones stay dormant! Hence interested to know how my MTHFR gene is aimed as I've found I don't methylate pyridoxine into active B6 🤨

I spend a fortune on supplements so looking to make sure I buy the ones my body can actually use!

So maybe don't expect clear answers... as with all test results 🙃

Radd is the knowledgeable... I don't have enough active brain cells to remember it all... but I find this sort of thing makes them all clank around a bit which gives them a workout at least 🤗

MissMonty,

I think this test is good value in that it tests for several traits including DI02, but only if you have an interest in genes and want all these additional tested.

It gives you the mutations but can only indicate probabilities of the impairments depth. The body is great at compromise and if you have several impairments within the same systems it is more indication that those mutated genes can not perform well.

As TiggerMe has mentioned Dirty Genes by Ben Lynch (king of MTHFR) is a great book written for the layperson to understand what helps turn faulty genes on and express best behaviours.

As greygoose mentions the best test is bloods to identify actual FT4 & FT3 levels.

Just looking back on your previous posts you were on NDT which your GP prescribed, is that right?

What were your latest results?
