Hi all, I have had a partial thyroidectomy, this is my results. My ferretin is severely low and I wanted to ask does low iron <15 cause severe fatigue and tiredness and joint pain as that's what I've been feeling. Not sure if I should take thyroid medication as my iron dropped after the surgery. Please help as I've also had severe migraines, heart palpitations and neck pain :/

Hi haychhaz,
Your ferritin is very low. Have you spoke to your GP about it?
I know from personal experience when my ferritin levels were low (but not as low as yours) I did feel very symptomatic mainly tiredness and breathlessness. You really need to speak to your GP about it.
Its difficult to see the results because the writing is so tiny. I can only go by the mark on the meter indicator.
Your FT4 is on the low side and will need watching and retesting on a regular basis to see if it changes oveer time.
If your ferritin is that low then you should discuss this with your GP. Ferritin of less than 30 is deficient by NICE guidlines and GP should prescribe iron for you.
Low ferritin can make you very tired, cause heart palpitations and many other symptoms.
Have you also had tests for folate, B12 & D3? These are all very important to have at OPTIMAL levels - usually the upper part of the range.
