As far as I'm aware Hashimoto's shouldn;t be a barrier for any kind of insurance. It's not life threatening. What have the insurance company said?

What happened about your dose after your GP had a fit about your TSH?

Have you now retested privately to show your FT3 as well?

Insurance company said they will not insure me until I see endo and get new results and all is under control acc to them. Most of them go by TSH and T4 and not FT3 anyway it seems. My GP said insurance company won't touch a functional medicine GP. Not sure if that's true

Your GP is panicking about your low TSH which is something that does happen if you take anything containing T3 including NDT. They are not seeing the full picture.

Have you stopped the NDT? It's really up to you if you do or don't.

The NHS doesn't like private doctors diagnosing hypothyroidism and then beginning treatment unless your NHS GP is fully on board with it. Sounds like your GP isn't on board and doesn't understand how T3 works regarding blood results. They usually only work with Levothyroxine - T4.

Perhaps contact the insurance company and ask them if they will deal with the functional medicine doctor?

Are you based in U.K.

As your previous post said test was total T3 …..are you in Scotland

Total T3 is an outdated test …..but still used in Scotland

How long have you been on NDT and at what dose

When were vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12 last tested

How are you feeling with your functional doctor and NDT? If you’re feeling crap on it, then by all means change, but if you’re feeling well why risk ending up feeling like crap?

I’m sorry, but as others here have pointed out, hypothyroidism has never been a cause for refusing mortgage or insurance and I wouldn’t let these people dictate my health in this way, especially if I was feeling well on my present treatment!

This reminds me I’df a problem a friend diagnosed a few years ago had. I assured her it wasn’t a risk for insurers, however she felt sure she needed to tell them about her chronic conditions Hashismotos/ hypothyroidism. My friend£ has health anxiety and so feels her diagnosis is much worse than mine or another friend in the same boat so I was not surprised she wanted to be sure they had documented it and adjusted the premiums accordingly to provide cover. Unfortunately the agent had no idea what she was talking about. Obviously these are never on any notification lists used by insurers. The upshot was she had to get a referral to an endo. NHS didn’t accept any need so it was private. There was no problem once the insurer receiving a letter from private endo. As a result it cost her a lot of money just to get a policy. No premium for her health condition which has her seriously concerned as she feels she won’t be fully covered . I fully understood her reasoning but after sixty odd years of hypothyroidism I learnt many years ago it’s not a concern. I do have to state admit I am diabetic and weirdly arthritis is on the list for health insurance additional costs plus husband has a heart attack and has angina . It puts the premium up considerably! I am sure your endo will reassure the insurance company it’s not a concern, it’s a shame they didn’t realise they can ignore anything routine like this. Hope it’s soon sorted.

It might not be having Hashimoto’s, it may be something else for example in family history or higher than average BMI.

The questions can be quite in depth and if something is recorded down incorrectly the “computer can say no” for an unjustified reason. There may be no tick box for Hashimoto’s & the person clicking the boxes might not have ticked the right one.

Anything that not considered not under control or investigated can exclude you too.

This sounds like your being scammed for some odd reason …. I have had multiple cancers and a debilitating arthritic condition and never had mortgage insurance say they can’t insure me because of the above honestly why do they care as long as you make payments.
