Update on Thyroid Ultrasound

so just an update on my Thyroid Ultrasound… I am just waiting on a copy of report from GP who isnt being very helpful. However , i have U3 cystic nodules and was asked by Radiologist if having any symptoms, i explained yes, and he said would flag to GP. The GP called me and said your on a surgery list - no medication changes or bloods needed as your in range and nothing more he could help with. He said Endo has done all they can and good bye. ( I dont have a face2face Endo review till Oct) I was quite shocked and now in process of changing GP surgery as I would like all my bloods done and if there going to remove my thyroid a good relationship with GP to ensure medications are correct.

This doesn’t sound very supportive. I’d be looking for new GP too.

Do you have results. In range means just that.

What ever was tested in somewhere In range.

You need to know if more that TSH was tested & where in range you are.

Hi there, i posted my previous blood results in older post , i’d just like more checks done by GP, especially as i go towards surgery.

Hi, again... this seems to be a recurring theme, I'm not surprised at your GP's behaviour. I find more rather than less GPS are like this these days. Hope you manage to find a decent one.Hope too that you get your thyroid sorted out soon. 😊

Thanks, i found the experience terrible, have ordered more private bloods and still waking up in morning with face swelling, Tongue etc, which is horrible. I will keep you posted of blood results.

ESSENTIAL To test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12 as well as thyroid levels

What vitamin supplements are you currently taking

75mcg levothyroxine is only one step up from starter dose

How much do you weigh in kilo

Recommended on here that all thyroid blood tests early morning, ideally before 9am and last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test

This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip)

Private tests are available as NHS currently rarely tests Ft3 or all relevant vitamins

As you have Hashimoto’s, have you had coeliac blood test done

Are you on strictly gluten free or dairy free diet

Come back with new post once you get results

Essential to test thyroid levels early morning and last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test

Have all four vitamins at OPTIMAL Levels

Have you had coeliac blood test done

Are you gluten free or dairy free

76kg x 1.6mcg levothyroxine per kilo = 121mcg as likely daily dose levothyroxine required

Push for increase in dose to 100mcg

Even if you initially increase to 75mcg and 100mcg alternate days

Presumably you are on Teva brand if you have single 75mcg tablet

Teva brand upsets many people

Guiding Treatment with Thyroxine:

In the majority of patients 50-100 μg thyroxine can be used as the starting dose. Alterations in dose are achieved by using 25-50 μg increments and adequacy of the new dose can be confirmed by repeat measurement of TSH after 2-3 months.

The majority of patients will be clinically euthyroid with a ‘normal’ TSH and having thyroxine replacement in the range 75-150 μg/day (1.6ug/Kg on average).

The recommended approach is to titrate thyroxine therapy against the TSH concentration whilst assessing clinical well-being. The target is a serum TSH within the reference range.

……The primary target of thyroxine replacement therapy is to make the patient feel well and to achieve a serum TSH that is within the reference range. The corresponding FT4 will be within or slightly above its reference range.

The minimum period to achieve stable concentrations after a change in dose of thyroxine is two months and thyroid function tests should not normally be requested before this period has elapsed.

Thanks SlowDragon as my TSH levels dropped to 1.2 see previous result below. They are not keen to increase my dosage. But to be honest i think im swinging all over place, as i was as high as 3.8 at end of July, details you can see on older post. Gluten free and Diary free now since August. Il get vitamins checked also privately, just feel im going around in circles. 🙈

Yes come back with new post once you get thyroid and vitamin levels tested now on strictly gluten free diet and dairy free

Many people, when adequately treated will have very low or suppressed TSH
