Is deplete D2 a concern?

Hi, I have just received my Vitamin D results. My GP ordered D2 and D3 tests.

My D2 result is 7 nmo/L

My D3 result is 96 nmol/L

My combined is 103 nmol/L

The results sheet states the recommendation for bone health:

Deplete <7

Insufficient 25 - 50

Replete 50 - 150

Do you think I should be concerned about the depleted D2?

Your D2 is not deplete.

Vit D test is in two parts - D2 and D3, they are added together to give you your total Vit D level. D2 is always a very small number and you don't look at this on it's own, D3 is always a much larger number. See example report attached.

Your total Vit D result of 103nmol/L is good, the Vit D Council, Vit D Society and Grassroots Health all recommend a level between 100-150nmol/L.

Thank you for your explanation and quick response.I was concerned as I do not retain D3 and need to take a reasonably high dose daily. I have taken 5000iu D3 daily for 20 years. That dose has been successful at keeping my level satisfactory.

I also need 5,000iu daily as my maintenance dose since successfully raising my severely deficient Vit D level back in 2015.
