I’m currently on 17.5mcg t3 a day & 100mcg Levo. I’ve been splitting a 5mcg tablet but now must have capsules. I feel it would be too inaccurate to try and open a capsule and divide the contents. Any advice?

How to split Roma T3 capsule
Sorry you are having to cope with Roma capsules. When my surgery changed my prescription I contacted them and asked that liothyronine tablets be written on the prescription rather than liothyronine capsules. If they write tablets I can continue to get Morningside but if they write capsules the pharmacy must dispense Roma. I explained that I had been advised to take doses of 2.5mcg and that I couldn't split Roma capsules.
So far so good they are now continuing to supply tablets
Hope that you can get back onto tablets too.
I would guess the only way to split the contents of a capsule would be to deposit them on a mirror and use a razor blade (one of the old ones) to divide it… 😉
I have capsules and when doing a blood test, the day before I tip the contents into a medicine measure, the one you often get with cough mixture. My capsules are 20 mcg so I measure 2 ml and stir and use a srynge to measure the dose. A faff I know but it’s better than the “razor blade” method.
Thanks. When I explained to the surgery about having to split one, they’ve put me back on the tablets!
