we can finally see the wood through the tree's... My ongoing Thyroid Problem.

I had my appointment with this new endo on the 4th July. She was a happy cheapie type of person and explained my problem to the liking of a damaged car. Which I found interesting.

My Thyroid is like a broken car that despite all measures wants to go 70 miles an hour all the time. So what we've done is taken it off the road and put it on blocks. We've turned the engin off and put a battery on it so it keeps the alarm going to protect the engin so it appears everything's fine. However we can't keep the car like this as it's affecting other parts of the engin like the gearbox. In my case my white blood cell count so we have choices to make.

I've said I don't want surgery or it burnt out. So what they said they'll off is another go at taking me off. My meds altogether. In 6 months time to try and shock my system back into using my thyroid so it's normal. The last time we tried it failed after 8 months or around that long. If that doesn't work they put me on a low dose of carbinazole that won't affect my blood cell count but would be likened to applying the brake all the time to slow my little car down.

It was a novel way of putting it, I'll give her that and at least I was spoken with and not too as my last endo did. I feel happy with the outcome of our meeting and plan of action. I did take your kind peoples advice and raised the point of trials that are going on around the world However she cut in saying it would be good if all the trials give the same conclusion though. The truth is we simply don't know that much about graves and the thyroid itself yet. Your information will be looked at and compared to someone identical but will have a different out come. We simply don't know that much about it and when we think we do something comes along and discredits that line of treatment. So that's our plan of action. Aft 35 mins I left happy. But most of all keeping my thyroid for another fight.

I'm glad you felt more consulted and heard. And refreshing that she admitted they/ her know little about Graves. Really hope the treatment plan works this time around for you. 🤞🤞🤞
