Just thought I’d do a new post for understand I managed to get a copy of my results

So here are my bloods I’ve just done at A+E due to my chest pain and such issues. This is what they found with my thyroid. So yes I’m stuck where to go, I got my some of the results wrong but something clearly is wrong.

the left is most recent.

The results are.

TSH: 0.02 (0.8-5)

T4: 30.8 (11-21)

T3: 9.4 (1.6-6)

This is what I’ve been told and such.

It's not possible to read the ranges on those results but the numbers do look high.

Can you type out the numbers?

Have you just been taking 125mcgs Levo? The numbers seem like more hormone is involved.

What is your approximate weight in kilos?

Dshadzz07 profile image
Dshadzz07 in reply to Jaydee1507

About 140kg

Jaydee1507 profile image
Jaydee1507Administrator in reply to Dshadzz07

These were your results on 75mcgs.

TSH: 12 (needs to be under 4)

FT4: 11 (12-22) range

The calculation for working out approx final dose is weight in kilos x 1.6

For you that works out at 224 (not precise but a guide only). You're nowhere near your final dose at the moment yet you have bloods way over range.

Do you have different size dose tablets and are you getting them mixed up?

How do you feel?

Dshadzz07 profile image

tbh dreadful. Body pain, palpitations, chest pain, more anxious and irritable than usual. No I never get em mixed up like maybe once have I ever taken like 150 instead of 125mg but that was ages ago. I just don’t know what’s going on.

I can only suggest going to 100mcgs for 6-8 weeks and retesting.

You must be sure to take your dose every single day. Many people find that taking it at bed time works well.

How are your vitamins?

Dshadzz07 profile image
Dshadzz07 in reply to Jaydee1507

vitamin d and folate dreadful. Like 32mmol (needs to be above 70)and 2.7ng/L(needs to be above 5. Ferritin is 14 (range 10-30). B12 is like dead in the middle haven’t got the figure

healthunlocked.com/thyroidu....

Going by these reuslt you would benefit from a good methyl B complex. This B complex has all the right vitamins at a not unreasonable cost for 90 days supply. amazon.co.uk/Liposomal-Soft...

Speak to GP about ferritin and D3. A ferritin of 30 or less is deficient according to NICE and your GP should prescribe iron tablets. Take them 4 hours apart from Levo.

Gp may want to retest but vit D is dficient and they should prescribe loading doses.

While your thyroid is having a hyper swing it will really help you to get vitamins right. In their own right each deficiency has symptoms.

There’s no information on your profile page

Is your hypothyroidism caused by autoimmune thyroid disease (also called Hashimoto’s)

Have you had TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested at least once

About 90% of primary hypothyroidism is autoimmune thyroid disease, usually diagnosed by high thyroid antibodies

Autoimmune thyroid disease with goitre is Hashimoto’s

Autoimmune thyroid disease without goitre is Ord’s thyroiditis.

Both are autoimmune and generally called Hashimoto’s.

Hashimoto’s can in early stages, swing from hypothyroid to a temporary “hyper”

Known as a Hashimoto’s flair

This is not true hyperthyroidism but caused by cells in your thyroid breaking down and releasing excess thyroid hormones temporarily

It might last a few days or a few weeks

You will probably need to stop levothyroxine for a few days…..or week perhaps

GP will need to retest TSH, Ft4 and Ft3 frequently …..at least weekly

Once Ft4 and Ft3 levels start to drop, you start back on levothyroxine …..

ok so that fT4 and ft3 are not 'normal' .

they are far too high and will definitely be causing you to feel unwell , so yes you do definitely need to reduce your dose.

and you need to take the same dose every day from now on , otherwise it will be impossible for anyone to work out what is going on with your thyroid .

this 'extra' T4 /T3 may be coming from your thyroid (eg if you have hashimoto's , this sometimes happens for a short while. and then levels go down again by themselves) , but you can't tell if that is what's happening if you don't know what dose you've been taking consistently.

since your the T4 / T3 levels are so high and you are having symptoms of overmedication , i would suggest that you :

~ Take NO levo for a few days ~ to allow T4/ T3 levels to drop a bit quicker.

~ and then resume taking 100mcg daily .

~ stick to that carefully for 6 weeks and get retested.

p.s when were those bloods you put on your other post taken ? was it recently . or were the just completely wrong numbers ?

(post seems to have been deleted , but those results were something like:

TSH 0.02

fT4 24 [11-22]

fT3 6.1 [3 -7]

Yeah sorry I read wrong results for the FT4 and FT3. Then results are from 2 days ago. The doctor has said stop for a week then start 100mg and test in 4-6 weeks. She said the palpitations and chest pain seem to be caused by this.

ah ok , if it's gone up that much in 2 days then i agree with them .. stop for 7 days then restart @100 then have a look again in 4-6 wks

I asked in your last post if you have Hashi's, but you seem to have deleted the post. Those results look very much like a Hashi's 'hyper' swing. As Tatty says, this is only temporary and the levels will go down by themselves. So, have you had your antibodies tested?

Yes I have Hashis

Then that is the problem. :)

If I were you, I'd stay off levo until you feel hypo again. A week will probably not be long enough. And, when you do go back on levo, you will need to go back onto the full dose you were on before, not a reduced dose, because you will be just as hypo as you were before.

What have they told you about the chest pains and palpitations? I have Atrial Fibrillation and also belong to that forum. If I can offer anything helpful please say. I know that thyroid issues can lead to heart arrhythmia. Almost certainly how mine started.

the doctors don’t know at all, but due to my many heart tests they are pretty sure it ain’t heart related. They think the palps and chest pain is from my thyroid levels and need to see if they settle down.

DM me if you'd like a breathing technique to help with the palps. I've shared with a couple of people here on posts and they've told me it helps.
