Hi, My Endocrinologist has prescribed me liquid Levothyroxine recently. I have been on the tablets for 30 years. My absorbtion has been questionable for the past few years, due to gastrointestinal issues. NICE now suggest prescribing the liquid for these cases.
All fine and grateful to be getting the liquid (as its expensive). However, I have to syringe 6.5ml into my mouth, usually when I first wake up.
It tastes disgusting & burns my throat. It's like acid! Does anyone have any experience of the gel liquid capsules? Are the capsules & liquid boyh as good for absorbtion? I don't think I can deal with taking this every morning for life. Not sure its doing my teeth or throat much good.

I had the same reaction as you to start with. I had to take it in minute amounts to start with and follow with a syringe with a bit of water in it. You eventually do get used to it. I also found that different brands had different tastes some better than others. Apparently water is ok after. Don't give up as it does work better than the tablets if you have malabsorption issues.
There is no choice re brands. You get what they can get hold of, even if you get the GP/Endo to ask. Due to the cost of the liquid, I think they think you are just lucky to have been prescribed it.
