hypothyroidism ?

I’ve not felt myself for awhile . Heavy more frequent periods , tiredness , not losing weight all of a sudden ( when I had bariatric surgery ).

Had private blood tests which showed higher than normal levels of prolactin and low folate levels . Vitamin D was fine probably because I’m taking high strength supplements .

Impossible to get a doctors appointment because every time I ring they say the queue is too big and just cut me off .

Not sure if this is hypothyroidism does it resonate with anyone

Welcome to the group. If you could complete your profile it helps members understand your thyroid journey. Click on your image icon to start.

What other blood results do you have? Did you test thyroid, ferritin, B12 & D3? Post results here if you do have them or you could get more private tests.

You need these tests: TSH, FT4 & FT3 and thyroid antibodies are also useful - Thyroid Peroxidase (TPO) and Thyroglobulin (Tg). The test the GP does is very limited and doesn't show the full picture of what is happening.

Are you now supplementing your folate level? If you ask GP they may want to run their own blood tests but should prescribe 5mg folic acid.

unfortunately I don’t have the blood test report which is rather annoying . I’m asking vitality health if they can send it to me .

They didn’t mention any of those results that you listed . They said high prolactin was at 580 which would usually be below 480 and just told me to take folate supplement

Often doctors will only report on a result that is above or below the range as they only recognise true deficiencies which is presumably what you have with folate, BUT vitamin and thyroid results that are less than optimal can cause a multitude of symptoms.

When you get the results post them here. If they haven't tested what you need then there are many companies offering private blood tests. See link for companies offering private blood tests & discount codes, some offer a blood draw service at an extra cost. thyroiduk.org/help-and-supp...

There is also a new company offering walk in & mail order blood tests in Crawley, Hove and Reigate areas. Check to see if there is a blood test company near you. onedaytests.com/products/ul...
