Ive just been given Roma Liothyronine capsules, by nhs. Has anyone had good/not so good results?
Roma T3: Ive just been given Roma Liothyronine... - Thyroid UK
Roma T3
What brand were you using before
How much T3 are you currently taking and do you split as 2 or 3 smaller doses spread through the day
Like all thyroid hormones
We are all different…..Roma suits some people
But …..Several members didn’t get on with Roma and have swapped back
NHS (misguidedly) believes Roma is cheaper
That depends on what doses you’re taking
Current prices NHS pays here

Thybon Henning, 15mcg daily, 5mcg in morning and 10mcg afternoon 1pm. I m very nervous about swapping as I feel so much better now. Also i need to increase my levo aswell
Request changing to Morningside 20mcg tablets and cut in half and 1/4 to get required dose
Far far cheaper
You might be better (eventually) on 3 x 5mcg doses
But let everything settle and get levothyroxine dose increase FIRST
when under medicated high cortisol levels can make a late dose T3 at bedtime affect sleep
I was given Roma after our hospital pharmacy moved over to it for reasons of price. Unfortunately I cannot tolerate gelatin, so the pharmacy has to put in a special request for me to have tablets each time.
I just hope its ok, thing is I need an increase in levo aswell, ill need to do one thing at a time
If you don't have gelatin intolerance, you should be fine. And yes, it's that old 'isolate one variable at a time' to make a dose increase, one then the other, just in case you get a reaction to either.
I don't think i have a gelatin intolerance, but I would not have known i have a gluten and lactose sensitivity until I came across this most fantabulous forum. I have quite a few of my current t3 medication left, I may increase my levo first until I retest after 8 weeks, then try Roma. Its funny isnt it, I was worrying about it all, but after chatting about it, I finally made a conscious decision. Thank you 🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸
Good luck, I so hope it goes well for you 👍
