Best Time To Folic Acid

I was prescribed 5mg of Folic acid by my Consultant and have been taking them straight after lunch with water but want to move them to the morning. I wait 2 hours at present after taking my Levothyroxine before having my breakfast and cup of tea. Can anyone of the good people on this forum advise if taking just after my breakfast is too close to the Levothyroxine.

Have you considered taking levothyroxine at bedtime. Often more convenient and maybe more effective

If you normally take levothyroxine at bedtime/in night ...adjust timings as follows prior to blood test

If testing Monday morning, delay Saturday evening dose levothyroxine until Sunday morning. Delay Sunday evening dose levothyroxine until after blood test on Monday morning. Take Monday evening dose levothyroxine as per normal

Thanks SlowDragon, I take my Omeprazole before bed when needed to keep it away from the Levothyroxine but a valid suggestion nonetheless and could change it if able to stop Omeprazole eventually.

Just to be clear, straight after breakfast then which is 2 hours after Levothyroxine.

you could swap omeprazole to the morning

Improving thyroid levels likely to mean you can get off omeprazole anyway

what are your latest TSH. Ft4 and Ft3 results

Test early morning and last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test

On any PPI like Omeprazole important to regularly retest B12, vitamin D, ferritin and magnesium

What other vitamin supplements are you currently taking

Omeprazole will tend lower vitamin levels

Do not have have other thyroid levels, Generally apart from dryish skin and itching periodically do Ok on my Levothyroxine as far as I know. At the moment I am trying to ween myself off the Omeprazole by only taking alternate days.
