shaws,
So it looks like bedtime Levo dosing is most favoured.
I actually split dose my Levo together with NDT, after Hashihouseman told how beneficial he had found split-dosing T4.
me too. 62.5mcg at bedtime , 50mcg first thing a.m. just seems more logical to me rather than dump 112.5mcg levo in the system all at once .
I've always taken one single daily dose of T3 (following Dr John Lowe's advice) when I awake with one glass of water, and wait an hour before I eat and have never had any awful symptoms whatsoever whereas I had constant awful symptoms on levo alone.
This change prevented the Cardiologist putting an implant in my heart (on levothyroxine) to 'see what was going on' through the severe recorded overnight palpitations I had when I was on levothyroxine only.
i don't split my levo because of any particularly adverse symptoms from taking it all at once... i just do it to spread out the big spike in blood levels that i know will follow a single larger dose ... on the basis that this might allow the whole system to work in a way closer to what nature intended. It looks like this might be allowing my TSH to remain a little higher than it's previous 0.05ish .... my theory being ~ if TSH is a bit higher , then theoretically i may get some benefit from better conversion of the T4 to T3 (driven by the higher TSH) without having to reduce levo dose to achieve the increase in TSH .
And the body would normally get its T4 delivered more evenly over the day, with the larger part delivered overnight.. so it seems sensible to copy this delivery pattern if it is simple enough to do it .I certainly don't feel any worse for splitting it, in fact arguably i feel better over all .... and it's no trouble to do it ... in fact i find it quite useful .... knowing that i will be taking some levo at bedtime dissuades me from munching choccy bikkie's at 10pm
Dr John Lowe took his T3 once daily (in the middle ofr the night)and stated that it saturated all of the T3 receptor cells and the 'effect' of that one dose can last between one to three days.
I trialled this - took one dose of T3, took none on day 2 or day 3 and .yes I still felt well and was symptom-free.
I might try this. I take sertraline and sleeping tablet at night…… I’m guessing I shouldn’t take Levo with them 🤷♀️?
I am finding similar noticeable improvements splitting levothyroxine
I already split T3 as 3 doses and have done for 4-5 years
now splitting levothyroxine as 3 doses as well (50mcg, 50mcg and 25mcg or 12.5mcg)
Prior to this splitting levothyroxine as 2 doses for last 6 months (100mcg and 25mcg or 12.5mcg)
