It must be 4 months on now since meds increased. The hair loss has continued to be greatly reduced from what it was doing.
Everytime I wash or touch my hair I am not seeing 100s come out. I can brush my hair and not have loads lost. Still more come out than used to before all this. But not enough to send me to tears again.
Regrowth still the same as before nothing really happening for what was lost.
.the thyroid is definitely the cause of my hair loss. It's impact on my hair is besides the loss to reduce the strands thickness drastically and to make the strands as a result not stay as tightly in the scalp as they did before all this.
Strands are so thin that when I'm out in air the air goes all over place I'm like mad scientist with the shorter hairs curling up and round on themselves. It's like a thinning halo.
I'm certain the thyroids the cause of it.
Makes me hate the doctors for refusing to put me on the medication sooner. 5 years before they did. I'm certain if have more hair and it wouldn't be as thin.
I don't have any faith tho that the medication is going to bring back major regrowth. I think the time without the needed medication has allowed follicles to die and not able to recover.
Am certain without appropriate meds the loss would have continued at the shocking rate it was.

I would suggest asking lots of questions and doing lots of research on the nutrients listed in that link. Taking 16 supplements all at once probably isn't a safe or a good idea!
I’ve always attributed my own hair loss & re growth to T3 changes, and texture alterations in line with ferritin.
However, I was surprised to realise a whole load of new regrowth sprouting after recent increases to my HRT. Maybe worth checking your sex hormones if all the usual forum recommended vits/iron have been optimised. I would also be adding a multi-mineral supplement.
I agree remaining undiagnosed for so many years has devastating effects but the body is resilient and given the right conditions, much is reversible. You have only been medicating an optimised dose for 4 months. I saw big changes in my general improvements up to 5 years after optimising meds, so there is much time for your hair to regain its previous condition 😊
I agree about HRT helping with maintaining and slowing hair loss down. I am still losing a lot of hair, but still working on getting my thyroid optimal. However, I fortunately started with a lot of hair, so not as noticeable to otherd. I attribute some of that to also taking estrogen. The estrogen might be making it harder to get my thyroid in a sweetspot, but I can't give up my estrogen for a lot of reasons. I had a hysterectomy, so don't need progesterone, which I am glad because I can't tolerate it.
I have tried it several times in different forms and doses and it makes me crazy! Let's talk about anxiety! I cannot tolerate it at all, so I am glad I don't need it. There are definitely two schools of thought on it, but it doesn't matter because my body hates it.
Hi, I've been on proper t4/t3 dose for 1.5 year now, however, my hair hasn't regrown (I have bad thinning at front and sides). Went to a trichologist privately. She said what's lost is lost and cannot be recovered. Can only work on retaining what's left, which is not very inspiring. I'm now taking supplements and applying phyto-estrogen drops on to my scalp. I don't have too much hope but giving it a chance.
Hair loss- I have experienced that. I have Hashimoto's and was diagnosed in 1988 despite having issues for years previous to diagnosis. I have found that taking Biotin in addition to my prescribed meds helps a lot.
have you altered your hair style? I’ve been grimly hanging on to my usual style but feel sad and frustrated it doesn’t look the way it used to… hate going to the hairdressers now but trying to figure out if a style overhaul might help… 🤷🏻♀️
I find it difficult talking to hairdressers about this but I think I’m going to try to find one who can give honest advice about style and length. Hoping that maybe a different style and perhaps shorter will help with the psychological effects of hair thinning? I don’t think it’s probably that noticeable to others but it’s a job every morning to get it to look half decent (to me) the way I have it now. The strands of hair are thinner - and it has very little shine now… and there’s a weird bit which seems to have started to go wavy all by itself with the rest very straight. Bloomin hair.
