hi, a quick question. Had a thyroidectomy 5 years ago. On 125 mg levothyroxine and 10mg liothyronine daily. I’ve been on antibiotics for a week now. Will these affect my uptake of the thyroid meds?

Thank you!

Most likely. Antibiotics can affect the gut which in turn affects absorption. Also your body is fighting an infection, illness so your thyroid hormones will be depleted from that battle.

You still need to be taking your Levo especially on an empty stomach and an hour away from the antibiotics. Other than that antibiotics are not listed as affecting absorption. Your TSH may rise slightly depending on what infection your body is fighting.
