Quick one, I have a memory of seeing posts about there being some problem with numbing injections at the dentist if you are on T3 but can't find anything through search; poss adrenaline related issue;

Has anyone anything useful/any experience to add please, any drugs to request are avoided?

thank you.

Had my wisdom teeth removed last July and was given lidocaine and adrenaline if I recall. I'm on NDT. Hope that helps.

And all OK, no odd effects?

Just wondering because I have adrenal issues and the adrenaline in some of the supplements can make me feel very ill, I imagine a jab would contain a lot more.

No side effects aside from some throat swelling and a slightly elevated pulse. I'm taking adaptogens to help my adrenals and I was fine, praise be to God.

Fear not. I have had various dental injections while on T3 and have had no problems but I always ask for one without adrenaline.

brilliant, thanks for that, I will flag it up in advance of the appointment.

It is now in my dentists notes not to give adrenaline (only one dodgy kidney) and he remembers every time. The adrenaline is there to speed up the numbing so they can give less of a dose, and it goes away faster, which is fine if you can have it. I am still drooling 4 hours later, but I am happy with that not to feel pain.

I was on the waiting list for 7 years, so the poor dentist is trying to catch me up before I am a toothless hag. He also knows which injection to give me that actually works.

many thanks, the way to go seems to be for me to just speak with the practise in advance and ask not to be given big doses of adrenaline.

hope you manage to get yours seen to soon.

It seems that dentists and vets have a much better hold on thyroid issues than doctors for humans. Just make sure the fact you have thyroid issues is in the dentists notes. My dentist is very happy to explain stuff about my treatment.

Hi. I am on ndt and have had quite extensive dental work. I can't have any injection with adrenaline as my heart goes bonkers and even the non-adrenaline is quite potent for me so only need half a cartridge.
