However, I feel like a small pill or a wad of phlem is caught in my throat right above the thyroid on the left side. I'm constantly clearing my throat to no avail and it's very dry in that spot. No amount of water washes it down or moisturizes my throat. I also have a histamine intolerance and Im wondering if any of my issues could be causing this. Any thoughts?

@SlowDragon Thank you for that information. Yes that's true. I went up to 75 mcg of Tirosint. It made me feel a little hyper for about a week, but then I leveled off and seem to be doing ok now. My last labs were in February 2023. With reference ranges are as follows:
FYI I was taking supplemental B-12 and D3 and have since backed off because of high lab numbers.
TSH 5.5 ( 0.450-4.500) Free T3 1.9 (2.0-4.4) Free T4 1.1 (.08-1.7) TPO 13 ( 0-34) Reverse T3 11.9 (9.2-24.1) TSI 1.44 ( 0.00-0.55) TrAb 1.74 (0.00-1.75) Vit D 111 (30.0-100) Folate >20 (>3.0) Ferritin 52 (15-150) B12 1389 ( 232-1245)
was test done early morning, and last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test and at least 6-8 weeks after any dose change or brand change in levothyroxine
FT4: 1.1 pmol/l (Range 0.8 - 1.7)
Ft4 only 33.33% through range
Ft3 below range
When adequately treated most people will have TSH around one and Ft4 and Ft3 at least 50-60% through range
Clearly you are still very under medicated
Ferritin is too low ….look at increasing iron rich foods in diet
SlowDragon Yes labs were done early a.m., no biotin, no thyroid meds for 24 hours. Im not sure if it was 6-8 weeks since my dose went up or not. First time Ive been told my ferritin was low but after research, I see that it is! That's crazy.
I have histamine intolerance issues so I cant eat certain things high in iron right now, like sardines ( which I love) I was just reading an article on anemia and Hashimotos. Ill definitly start doing something for that. Im scared to go up on my Thyroid meds but I will ask my doctor about it. Thank you!
I think my son had something similar that they put down to anxiety. I dont think he has it still (is on thyroxine). See nhsinform.scot/illnesses-an....
I had it when undermedicated which caused silent reflux, had ENT camera which showed bright red inflamed larynx. Increasing stomach acid helps, Dr Eric Balcavage (thyroid answers podcast) says low in range FT3 causes the stomach valves to get lazy. Bringing the levels up makes the valves work again. The ENT doctor said that just the tiniest spray of stomach contents up into our throat when we sleep can cause it. At the time I disagreed completely, was sure I had a nodule pressing into my throat but ultrasounds and MRI proved thyroid was actually small. So I sorted stomach acid, got a trial raise of T4, stopped eating after 7pm and raised the head of the bed. It vanished, I didn’t need their gaviscon after all.
I stopped waking up coughing, I am not mucusy in the morning, a short course of NAC also helps clear out, throat not sore, voice normal again.
I got mine as a powder from MyProtein website, they often have offers and discounts, it comes with a tiny scoop and I mixed it into orange juice. Smells awful. Clears out mucus (made me cough a bit) but recommended you don’t take it all the time, just a few weeks.
