Just all of a sudden one morning, I woke up with the feeling of something stuck in my throat. Like when a bit of muesli needs a second swallow to go down properly. It's incredibly frustrating.
I seen one particular doctor twice. He told me I was imagining it. (I know there's anxiety related lumps in the throat but this one is different) I can feel it when swallowing, drinking, breathing, etc.
I seen a second doctor, he gave me GERD meds which did nothing. I seen a third doctor and he's given me oral thrush meds, with no relief.
I'm booked in for my 4th drs appointment tomorrow, to try and get a 2nd opinion/ referal for the camera down the throat or something!!
It's driving me absolutely mad. I'm so scared & anxious and of course Google tells me all my symptoms = throat cancer.
Has anyone else had this and it was okay? I'm so so scared. I can't even look at my 6mo without bursting out in tears. It's sending me loopy. I just want to know what it is.

It's also there all the time. But seems to be "better" overnight and in the morning while laying down. When i get up, through the day and especially in the afternoon/evening it's the worst. (Had it for 4 weeks now). Today I've also got a funny voice, and sore throat when swallowing, but it might not be linked. I could just be getting a little virus or something as well.
It's common for thyroid levels to change after pregnancy
For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4 and FT3 plus both TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested. Also extremely important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12
Low vitamin levels are extremely common, especially if Thyroid antibodies are raised
Recommended on here that all thyroid blood tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and fasting. This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip, best not mentioned to GP or phlebotomist)
Ask GP to test thyroid antibodies and vitamin levels
Did you have heavy blood loss after giving birth. Iron and ferritin may be low as result
Private tests are available. Thousands on here forced to do this as NHS often refuses to test FT3 or antibodies or all vitamins
Medichecks Thyroid plus ultra vitamin or Blue Horizon Thyroid plus eleven are the most popular choice. DIY finger prick test or option to pay extra for private blood draw. Both companies often have special offers, Medichecks usually have offers on Thursdays, Blue Horizon its more random
If antibodies are high this is Hashimoto's, (also known by medics here in UK more commonly as autoimmune thyroid disease).
About 90% of all hypothyroidism in Uk is due to Hashimoto's.
Thank you. I had massive blood loss after birth. I'll definitely be asking for a thyroid and vitamin check. Is the feeling like somethings stuck in my throat common though?
So you need iron and ferritin tested for Anaemia after large blood loss
Also B12, folate and vitamin D too
If you had really massive blood loss you need referral to a well qualified Thyroid specialist for FULL evaluation for Sheehan's syndrome. It's unlikely, but needs ruling out (GP unlikely to have even heard of it)
