Little or no eyebrows

After years of standard NHS treatment for hypothyroidism, my eyebrows have all but departed this face! Had anyone solved this problem (an eyebrow pencil doesn’t hack it for me) Interested to hear if anyone has had an eyebrow transplant…

Inadequate treatment and low vitamin levels are likely repsonsible for no eyebrows.

Do you have a copy of your latest blood results that you can share with us? You are legally entitled to this, ask at GP reception. In England you can get the NHS app and ask for permission to see your blood results on that by asking at GP’s reception..

When hypo we get low stomach acid which means we cannot absorb vitamins well from our food, regardless of a great diet. For thyroid hormone to work well we need OPTIMAL levels of vitamins. Have you recently or could you ask your GP to test levels of ferritin, folate, B12 & D3? Private tests are available, see link for companies offering private blood tests & discount codes, some offer a blood draw service at an extra cost. thyroiduk.org/help-and-supp...

mine more or less came back once my Levo kicked in properly… although they now grow in all sorts of different directions so not sure it’s much better 🤔 they’re also growing in my nose and on my upper lip 👀 but the upside is I have better eyelashes now than I’ve had for 20 years. I had a friend who had eyebrows tattooed on and she looked fab if that’s an idea for you?

Thanks for this - I too have hairs where they don’t belong! I’ve enquired at a local biz offering the ‘tattoo’ solution but was told I would have to keep renewing it every two years which Ididnt like the thought of 😟

Did not realise that about the ‘repeat’. However unless you are very careful this would be a good thing! I have seen some terrible jobs done with the tattooing eyebrows. The measurements (height/width) and spacing are critical, to be in any way flattering. This might be more difficult if you really have no eyebrows left. Choose your practitioner carefully. You want a real artist. A bit like trying to find a decent medical practioner.

I tried UKlash eyebrow serum. It did work to cause eyebrow regrowth (apart from one brow area that is bald), so you could give that a try?

Thanks for your response but as I don’t have any eyebrow hair I don’t think that would work.

It did bring back some of my hair in places where there was none. Just one stubborn area didn't regrow!

I’ve just tried that site but the software I have installed warned me it was a dangerous site and not to continue. I’m not holding out hope now as I’ve had no eyebrow hair for years courtesy of the NHS/doctors’ not managing hypothyroidism properly. Thanks for your interest and for trying to help. 👍

How odd! I don't get that message, I don't think there's anything dangerous there, after all I used the site and didn't get inundated with spam or anything.

it’s Norton software so a reputable software. I have to admit I think it’s a bit zealous in keeping me ‘safe’ !

My eyebrows have always been invisible, definitely a third or more from outer edges long gone! That said underarm and leg hair also gone, that I see as a bonus. LOL My eyebrows do annoy me and I was interested to see the responses here. I’d never heard of UKlash, but will be looking it up. I doubt mine would now regrow but who knows. I think I have had a thyroid problem most of my life, I was dismissed by an endo when I was about 20, after 2 years of toing and froing with gaiters. Ten years later I was eventually diagnosed hypo, and put on T4, another 20 years getting worse and worse. Eventually got T3. Been on it over 15 years now. And generally much better but the eyebrows never came back. These things have to be deficiencies of some sort, but it is a minefield trying to work out just what!

in reply toUrsaP

I really empathise with your story as mine is the same! On balance though I would rather have eyebrows and deal with hairy legs etc….I can never ‘draw’ my eyebrows on to my satisfaction!

Hey there - I had my eyebrows tattooed on - lasted some years - ?

in reply topennyannie

Thanks for your message - are you in the UK and if so is there a specific procedure or ink etc that was used?

I'm down in Cornwall - so not the most fashion forward or beauty based of places.

I don't know - I had a skin patch test and had no negetive reaction and the appointment was arranged for me to have permanent eye liner and eyebrows - as I felt i looked: like a giant suet pudding.

in reply topennyannie

I’m pleased for you! I’m in Lincolnshire so even less options available. Will have a look round.

in reply topennyannie

I loved your expression a giant suet pudding! 😂
