I want to ask women, if any of you had hair loss, and had success with any supplements or biotin to get your hair back?

Thank you

Did you get the vitamin blood test results?

What were the latest thyroid results?

It's often ferritin (iron storage) at low levels thats responsible for hair loss. Once mine was improved I no longer lose my hair in handfulls.

thank you for your reply

Thyroid results are

Tsh is 0.02

T4 15

T3 4.4

They did not do iron and ferritin this time I think I will have to get a new blood test done.

I stopped vitamin D because it was too high 200. And the k2 mk7 i take with it.

I was going to buy same iron and biotin supplements and see if it would help.

But just wondering before I did to ask for some help here first.

Thank you

Never supplement iron without getting full iron panel test for anaemia

It’s possible to have low ferritin but high iron

Test early morning, fasting and don’t eat steak or similar night before test

Medichecks iron panel test

medichecks.com/products/iro...

when were ferritin, B12, folate last tested

What if your iron is over range (just) but ferritin is too low (say 45)? Is it still OK to supplement iron?

No if iron is high …….

You need to only work on improving ferritin with food, not supplements

Do you have the test ranges for each of those results - numbers in brackets after your result number?

You would only need to stop Vit D & K2 for a month or so then you would need to restart at a lower dose.

What were B12 & folate results?

Ferritin is usually raised by concentrating on an iron rich diet - chicken livers, pate a few times a week, red meat etc ..BUT you need to test first.

I have lost all my hair several times even though my thyroid gland has a dose of liothyronine that suits me. I am prescribed T3 and feel well.

I also have alopecia areata and nothing can help as it falls out, grows back just to fall out again,

One one occasion I saw an expert on hair loss and he gave injectiions into my scalp and a couple of weeks later hair began to show and I eventually had a haircut. However, my husband was with me when I had the injections for hair and he isn't in agreement to have more.

Three things that helped my hair regrow. MSM, Nettle leaf and Ashwagandha.

Hi there, I have found both pumpkin seed oil and microneedling to be notably helpful. Been meaning to write a post about those in case they can help others on here.

For the PSO I was taking 1/4 tsp (~1000mg) of good quality PSO daily and noticed a def increase in density of hairs at the scalp including my hairline - PSO is thought to help hair growth by blocking DHT, the research is readily accessible on google.

For me, however, I think the PSO may also have been contributing to my fatigue (perhaps via it's hormonal effects) so personally have stopped for now until I sort that out. Plan to try it again once at a better place with thyroid levels to see if I can handle better then. 1000mg may also have been too much. I think the studies typically used 400mg. But at this point my fatigue is the bigger problem so figure it's better to just not add to the mix, but my hair has def suffered since stopping it.

The microneedling is a bit more complicated but I can explain if interested.

Wish you the best of luck, whatever route you take!

OOPS! Had written a completely incorrect dose of the PSO, now corrected.
