I have a blood test this week prior to an NHS endocrinologist appointment the following week. I spoke with an endocrine nurse at The Pituitary Foundation after a tip off here. She suggested I requested specific bloods, I believe these include:-
Full thyroid, blood count, full pituitary function, vitamins and sex hormones.
My main symptom is chronic insomnia. I know my DHEA is below range and my testosterone is at the bottom. My cortisol bloods previously have also been low at 220, and cortisol saliva test a little low but not as dire as the bloods.
I just wondered if there are any other blood tests I should request please? The nurse is usually fairly accommodating and I expect the Endo probably hasn’t even bothered to load the blood test onto the system, so it will be a case of me telling her what needs doing. I do feel my blood sugar could be out as I sometimes crave sugar.. I drink a lot of water and was just reading another post on here about too much water being bad. Or is that my salts? I don’t crave salt, but do use Himalayan salt which has stopped my dizzy spells and I believe brought up my very low blood pressure.
I presume I have some pituitary issue, although don’t know enough about it to work out what, and I’m hoping these tests may enable me to see someone private who is more useful than the endo, and I can load up results for comment here, by this fantastic team who know more than she does.
thank you very much.
