I was awaiting a thyroid test (done as recommended) which has taken a week to come through. Im shocked to see that my FT3 has jumped up with no change in dose and my FT4 has dropped again despite a recent increase! So I really don't know unless the test is wrong. 🤦♀️🤷♀️
FT3 - 7.0 (3.1-6.8)
FT4 - 5.4 (10.8-25.4)

If your dose was the same last time as well AND the time you took your last T3 was the same then you probably need to retest to be sure using the same lab.
I have Hashi. I take 40mcg T3 - 100mcg oral T4. I increased my FT4 by 25mcg in November (125 from 100 mcg) when FT4 dropped and after covid as I was getting hypo symptoms. Dropped back to 100mcg in January after some AF run
FT4 - 10.9 (10.8 - 25.5) - 19.1.23 was this January test done before or after you dropped back to 100mcg Levo ? how long were you on an unchanged dose before this test ?
now... "my FT3 has jumped up with no change in dose and my FT4 has dropped again despite a recent increase! ..." recent increase ~ when ?
FT3 - 7.0 (3.1-6.8)
FT4 - 5.4 (10.8-25.4)
What dose were you taking for 6 weeks before the Nov 15th test ?
and what dos have you been taking for 6 weeks before this latest test ?
January Test done when I just stopped taking increased dose of T4 so went back to 100mcg from 125mcg.
Dose before the Nov 15th test was T4 100mcg T3 40mcg
dose in last 6 weeks same as above.
Only difference was I increased T4 between Nov and Jan by 25mcg but T3 has always been the same.
Only dropped back to 100mcg in Jan because I had a couple of bouts of AF (according to Apple Watch) so thought I might be over medicated despite the fact I had been having symptoms of under! That’s why I repeated test in Jan.
it's almost as though the fT3 and fT4 results have been put in the wrong boxes..
(it's much easier to believe that fT4 has fallen to 7 since dose reduction, and fT3 has stayed same ,,,, than it is to believe that fT4 has crashed through the floor to 4.5 while still taking a resectable dose of levo everyday
i think i'd be asking them to double check with the lab in case someone inputting the data was having an off day .
are these showing on your NHS patients access 'app' ....or have you had an actual printout from reception ?
( i seen some cases on here recently where results/ details/ test dates on the app have been put in wrong initially and then hastily changed the next day or so )
100mcgs Levo + 40mcgs T3 is a large dose. I'm not sure if there is a comparable dose by weight calc for a combo but I would think you might need a dose reduction. Hyper symptoms can be eerily similar to hypo symptoms.
Vitimins was the topic of my last post - link above.
The T3 dose I was put on was 40mcgs of TH about 3 years ago. At the time I was also on alternate days of 100/75mcgs of T4. My blood levels were very good and I felt good. Then a new Consultant came in and reduced T4 to 50mcgs due to deficient TSH (which has not budged for 30 years)! My FT4 then spiralled down to 3 eventually!
I was put on liquid T4 and dose increased up to 100mcg, it’s taken 3 years to get up to over 10. It was over 11 last year but I had Covid in October which is when it dropped 1.5 so I upped dose by 25mcg for 6 weeks which brought it up by a little but it’s dropped down again.
Private Consultant plus NHS Consultant confirmed the above dose too.
I realised I’d taken my T3 that morning!! Duh! So I’m waiting another six weeks and will try again. In the mean time I’ve been taking a B complex as Folate was a bit low and increasing B12 injections.
too much T3 will cause weight gain by increasing blood sugar (via hepatic gluconeogenesis). Your body is probably trying to deactivate the T4 as it is not needed due to the moderately high dose of T3 in conjunction with the T4. Suggest t3 dose reduction. Check adrenal function also.
exactly. Thyroid hormones have a major impact on glucose metabolism. Many people assume more thyroid is better, but often that’s not the case. Wishing you good health.
