I have a question for you all does accord produce a 75mcg (or 25 and 50mcg) version of their Levothyroxine and is it identical to the 100mcg version? I read in some threads that some dosages are rebranded..
My current situation is that I have been doing MUCH better on the approximate 75mcg daily dosage.
I’ve achieved it by halving and then halving again by 100mcg tablets to try and it worked but it can be messy..
I wanted to give a little update on the whole eye swelling and migraine situation, just in case anyone experienced this and is worried.
I am now 100% convinced this situation IS caused, in my case, by over medication.
Now that my dosage is reduced (and has been for about 10 weeks) to 75mcg approx, I have not had not even one instance of my swollen eyes and excruciating migraine EXCEPT for when a handful of times (last being yesterday! 😒) where for a reason or another I inadvertently took the 100mcg dose. (Last night was sleepy and cut the tablet, but then somehow still took all the pieces?! 🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️).
And this morning, voilà! Woke up with the most puffy eyes I had ever and a migraine radiating from my eyes that didn’t allow me to do 2 plus 2. (Thank god for pain killers!)
So I’m not taking anymore risks with the tablets and feel confident to reduce dosage even without blood tests, but just going based on how I feel.
did I mention I also lost around 5Kg (about 12 pounds) in these 10 weeks?? Yay!!
Repeat private blood test on Monday just to confirm!
I feel that I may even benefit from scaling down a tiny bit more.. but will see what my levels have been…

I’m delighted that a slight reduction in medication has had such a positive effect on your health OutMood. We all have different ‘sweet spots’ where we feel best; but it can be tricky working out what that is/ how to maintain it. I know I’m very sensitive to adjustments, either increases or decreases, so do this super slowly (and have become more adept using a pill cutter!)
I hope that the labs next week will confirm that it definitely IS my sweet spot! 🤞🤞
Does the pill cutter do a good job even if the pills are not scored? Unfortunately for some weird reason all of my 100mcg from different batches aren’t scored 😭 only the few 50s that I had were..
So when I break them with my fingers I often get an imprecise cut..
My medicines document has details of all UK levothyroxine products and can be found here:
helvella - Thyroid Hormone Medicines
helvella has created, and tries to maintain, a document containing details of all thyroid hormone medicines in the UK and, in less detail, many others around the world.
This link takes you to a page which has direct links to the document from Dropbox and Google Drive, and QR codes to make it easy to access from phones.
oh Lordy.. I’ll definitely stay away from the 50mcg for now then 😕
Was hoping my life could get easier.. but apparently not.. maybe I’ll get a pill cutter as annoyingly the 100mcg don t have the cut line, but the 50mcg from accord do! (I had a few left over 50s from an old dose increase).
I have a question for you all does accord produce a 75mcg (or 25 and 50mcg) version of their Levothyroxine
As you will see from Helvella's document they only make 100mcg and 50mcg tablets, currently also reboxed as Almus for Boots and Northstar for Lloyds Pharmacy. Northstar 25mcg is made by Teva and some people have adverse reactions to Teva brand.
Due to the possible problem with Accord 50mcg tablets (which could also affect Almus and Northstar 50mcg), to achieve 75mcg I would just use 100mcg Accord tablets and I would achieve an average of 75mcg by taking
thank you as well for pointing out the issue with the 50mcg, exactly why I asked on here as I know of repackaging and issues sometimes.
Teva is not great for me unfortunately so that’s a no go.
Thanks for the pill/dosage suggestion but unfortunately I cannot do it other than 75 daily, the moment I have 100mcg I have the most horrible day where I cannot function all day and struggle with the massive migraine (the root cause of not being able to even think). I think it will be pill cutter for me. 🤞
