Can I temporarily up liothyronine to account for forgetting to bring levo away with me?

hi all, I’ve come away for the weekend and forgotten my levothyroxine (100mcg) I’ve remembered my liothyronine which I take 15mcg daily.

Should I increase my liothyronine until I’m home on Tuesday? If so, by 5mcg, more might be a shock to the system?

Should I just forget about the levo and take it as usual when I get back?

Can’t believe I did this, spent agree filling pill box and forgot levo…how?! Hopeless 😞

Thanks for any advice!

We can but try 😁 it would have been much worse if you'd forgotten the T3! 😬

would it ? I’m interested to know why T3 is so much more important- I have run out of T3 whilst travelling and don’t take it for at least a week and felt dreadful - but why is this ?

T3 is the active hormone so is much faster acting than T4 which is more of a storage hormone and needs converting before it is of much use but if you don't convert T3 is essential... so you will notice the lack of T3 within 12 -24 hours, probably could manage a week or two without T4 before feeling utterly dreadful, T4 has a much longer half life than T3

Many people actually feel better for a couple of weeks after stopping T4 but then crash bigtime 🙃

If you want, you can always phone NHS 111 to get an emergency prescription – usually about a week’s worth.

They’ll send an electronic Rx to the pharmacy for you to collect

If there is an open pharmacy tomorrow, Slowrunner1208 could just go and ask for two tablets!

I forgot mine once when I visited my brother. My husband posted it to me and I received it the next day. Can anyone send yours to you?
