hi

wondering if someone can help I’ve been to see endocrinologist and she has continued me on 20mg of carbimazole a day just now and finally got some propranolol 10mg 3 times daily although unsure if it’s enough to treat the high level of anxiety I feel right now,

she said my levels were the below

TSH and a T4 of 25.0

T3 levels are normal

she said I should start to feel more improvement over the next few weeks

Can anyone explain levels to me please? I tried asking but was so anxious I never took much in.

thank you

you need auctual TSH & FT3 result. “Normal “ means in range but that could be borderline.

You also need to add lab range - they vary.

You are entitled to copies of results ask receptionist of practice or hospital department for print out.

Always track result, to learn where you feel best.

FT4 is high by most ranges.

Do you feel better?

hi I feel slightly better I’ve been taking the carbimazole for 3 weeks now and the propranolol help but I’m still off work as I can’t seem to get myself back in the office out of home. It’s all making me very anxious and i had lost about a stone in weight over past few months so that’s knocked my confidence too.

Do ask for a print out of actual levels and ranges (as these can vary between laboratories). I would put these in a new post to alert more members. Also ensure you test key thyroid vitamins (folate, ferritin, B12 and Vit D). Definitely share these with us before supplementing.

Anxiety has been the worst thyroid symptom for me & this alleviated when both thyroid levels and key vitamins were optimal. Do remember that when medics say ‘normal’ or ‘within range’ this is not the same as optimal. I’ve also found magnesium useful in helping to reduce anxiety. Best wishes to you.
