Weird blood results part2

Firstly, thank you to everyone who posted advice on my previous question.

I had bloods for vitamin and minerals and the my vit b12 was low. 100pmol/L range 133-675. I have been advised by the nurse to supplement 1000mg daily.

Everything else in the test was in range.

I am booked in for a blood test in 6 weeks time.

I would ignore the nurse and make an appointment with your GP and ask for testing for B12 deficiency and Pernicious Anaemia.

Do you have any symptoms of B12 deficiency:

b12deficiency.info/signs-an...

b12d.org/submit/document?id=46

If you do then list them to discuss with your GP. Do not take any B12 supplements or folic acid/folate/B Complex supplements before further testing of B12 as this will mask signs of B12 deficiency and skew results and if you have B12 deficiency and it is not detected and treated then this could affect your nervous system. B12 deficiency should be treated before starting folic acid because folic acid can sometimes improve your symptoms so much that is masks B12 deficiency.

A level as low as yours often needs B12 injections. If you have Pernicious Anaemia it means injections for life.

Everything else in the test was in range.

"In range" doesn't mean that your levels are optimal. What are the actual results plus ranges?

Looking at your previous post you recently had extremely high TSH

Being on inadequate dose levothyroxine frequently results in low stomach acid and this leads to poor nutrient absorption and low vitamin levels as direct result

Your B12 is so low you need testing for Pernicious Anaemia before starting on daily B12 supplements…..or possibly B12 injections

Extremely common on levothyroxine to need to supplement vitamin D, vitamin B complex and magnesium daily

What are your vitamin D, folate and ferritin results

Hey there again :

It's not just a question on being in the range somewhere and therefore "normal ' :

In order for any thyroid hormone replacement to work well and convert to a good level of T3 we need to maintain optimal levels of vitamins and minerals.

Although your RAI was some years ago from my own experience my further health issues started around 8 years after my my RAI treatment.

RAI is a slow burn and ultimately your gland will be totally burnt through by this toxic substance.

RAI is known to be taken up, to a lesser extent, by other glands and organs in the body.

RAI is known to trash vitamins and minerals so even now some 5 years on from taking back control of my own health myself and some 18 years on from RAI treatment I still need to supplement all these vitamins and minerals to keep well.

RAI is also known to trigger symptoms similar to those of fibromyalgia and Sjogren's Syndrome.

Do you have online access to your medical records as in this way it is much more convenient as you can view and revisit your results as and when you like with no need to ask permission from anybody ?

I did send you this link before and it does actually give a similar time line to my experience :
