DAO enzyme not deficient but histamine intolerance continues...

My DAO enzyme results came back at normal levels, and my histamine also came back at a normal level. However my histamine intolerance continues, I have to take two anti-histamines every 24 hours or I will start to feel crippling symptoms and nausea vomiting etc. Does anyone know where I can go from here?

Are you following a low histamine diet? Cutting down/out foods that either contain histamine, block DAO or liberate histamine improved my symptoms immensely in just a few days .

Yes, I have been following the diet for 3-4 months. Unfortunately it hasn't been enough to get rid of my symptoms. The only thing that helps is the medication, which also has side effects. I'm really just desperate to get the the root cause. I'm planning to get my thyroid checked next as I've heard this could be a cause. If anyone has any other suggestions, I would love to hear them! :)

Do you have any gut issues? Treating gut dysbiosis can improve histamine issues. Test for h plyori, SIBO and leaky gut. If you can purchase beef kidney and thymus it's helpful.

Blackseed oil helps with histamine. Others include bromelain, quercetin and nettle leaf. Raw honey/manuka

******Quercetin isnt recommended dir hypothyroid patients but some ppl have taken it without any issues. *******

It took 6 years for me to figure out for me there is an extreme connection between my thyroid being hyper or hypo and histamine intolerance. I finally found a fantastic doctor who figured out I've had mold exposure and SIBO causing histamine levels to be high and then if my thyroid is up or down even a little bit that for me makes histamine severely worse. I found a study from last year on this and it shows there's an absolute connection. If you Google histamine and thyroid and PubMed or something like that you'll find a study from last year. My histamine symptoms are brutal and totally play off what I eat and how my thyroid dysfunctioning. I don't get hives like a lot of people which makes it harder to figure out and my symptoms would always be way worse the morning after I ate something or drink something bad. Who can figure that out! Anyway this is a long hard journey and I sure wish you luck!
