For those unaware, because of forum rules, any suggestions must be via PM
I’ve been trying to help a friend whose low thyroid function is being ignored by her GP. I’ve suggested she consults a good practitioner for blood testing and advice on what to do afterwards and to also bring her results to the forum
I consider myself fortunate to have been able to see Dr Peatfield but he’s no longer available. She’s open to conventional treatment, NDTor glandulars so I suppose she needs to see the kind of practitioner who is also open
i know there are many out there but there are a couple I don’t trust so if any of you have seen someone who you consider really knows what they’re doing and you’ve had or know someone who’s had positive outcomes then please share their details
Thank you
Would she need a referral letter to see a private endo or GP?

Referral letter is just to see an NHS Endo, if happy to pay she can go to a Private GP or Endo straight away, more likely to be offered the full range of treatment options 🙏
In a similar quandary with my sister 🙄
I guess it would be helpful to define an area if face to face is preferred? 🤗
As mentioned, replies with information about individual doctors by private message only. I will turn off replies so that no information is posted here.
Noelnoel Do you have the list of thyroid friendly endose (private and NHS) from ThyroidUK. If not you can email
tukadmin@thyroiduk.org
There is also a different list of private practioners and GPs with a special interest in thyroid, see this page and there is a "contact us" link:
They are just lists, not recommendations, so it's suggested that further research is done before committing.
Also, has your friend done full thyroid/vitamin testing? Best get this done first as it will be cheaper than any private doctor arranging them, also you can post them on here for members to comment.
