This morning, I was feeling right at the edge of my ability to stand being so sick having had barely any sleep overnight.
Couple of days ago had requested a referral letter from my GP to hand to a private specialist.
My hubby picked it up and I've just opened it. It shows REALLY clearly what a complete bunch of idiots I'm dealing with at my surgery.
The letter states that I have been on 50mcg levo since May (completely wrong) but - wait for it - recently increased to 125mcg. Just like that. Overnight!
And apparently a GP gave me a prescription for it. Just like that! Overnight!
So not only does the letter make me look like a lunatic, but WOW, this is the head of the practise - it shows pretty well what she knows about thyroid!
Have now requested full access to clearly incomplete medical records and a new letter. Wonder what I'll get next, a shopping list?

normal online access, but not the full lot, some stuff is hidden, so have requested that today. What I find interesting and worrying is how many test results from this year have just disappeared.
SlowDragon 'Do you have access to your medical records online including blood test results If not get that sorted'
Just a reminder to anyone reading here, that not all UK nations have full online access available. I think I'm correct in saying that Wales and Scotland don't have full access. I'm unsure about N.Ireland but I don't think they have it there either.
not sure I'm good humoured. also found a record on mine for someone who has had a skin cancer removed, my name and address but definitely not me. And found a blood from 16 years ago showing my TSH at 3.5, me complaining about fatigue, them saying 'it's all in her head..'
and then again 15 years ago, TSH up to 4, me saying I'm tired, I ache, I have pains in my neck, them saying, hmm, there's nothing wrong, why is she feeling anxious, psychiatrist?
I'm wondering now if there is any case for medical negligence given that my TSH was never monitored or followed up.
My notes had the fact that I had had a prostate op - I'm female. I get called every year for a protate exam follow up. I have a female first name, but the penny never drops. I may go one day...
The name and address of another female was in my notes, including her op for piles. I let the practice know, but not the other female as I did not want to upset her.
After an overdose of contrast medium, for which I was hospitalised, and which probably knocked out my thyroid, they denied I had had a scan. They left the scan results in my file...
Your comment about the contrast medium, I'm so heartbroken for you, that's just devastating. I know people do get away with it even with thyroid conditions but the horror stories are everywhere.
Records - So it can't just be us two, can it? I wonder whose files all my thyroid bloods have disappeared onto, maybe the person who had the skin cancer? I mean say she's got mine and then does develop a thyroid problem.....
Practise manager said I had to ring the hospital department where I apparently had plastic surgery and that they have to admit the error before that document will be removed from my records. I've done it for the sake of it, but will they admit an error? bets anyone?
I kept sitting here when I saw it going, I don't remember that, has my brain deteriorated so badly with being undermedicated? I actually had to ask my husband to confirm it. But then that's probably because I went from 50mcg to 125 overnight, eh...
The plastic surgery hospital (if they put the notes there) actually broke the law. Data protection is very strong on this. The hospital are the data handlers and letting it be seen by someone else is a huge breach, and they could be fined.
I would phone the hospital department and ask to speak to the Data handler, tell them you intend to report them. That way if the notes are not removed, they can be fined thousands of pounds. If they did it to your notes, you wont be the only one.
Oh that's brilliant, thanks so much. It was one of the major NHS hosps in my area. Unfortunately though it's my data that I can see, just about someone else's medical condition which I've never had. I really can't grasp how it's got my name & address on it.
