Found this in Waitrose (Bit pricey!) Lovely creamy Oat Kefir. Dairy, soya and gluten free... Edit ** Found a recipe they use milk grains**

£3!! and rather annoyingly really nice... heck I'm worth it! I only went in for a sneaky sushi treat 😏

Edit... actually cheaper in Waitrose as they sell the 500g where as the other only sell 250g £1.85

Oat Base (Water, Gluten-Free Oats (11%), Sunflower Oil, Salt), Coconut Cream, Stabilisers (Tapioca Starch, Pectin), Rice Flour, Fruit Extract (Apple, Carob, Grape), Natural Flavouring, Lemon Concentrate, Vitamin B12, Vitamin D2, Calcium Phosphate, Live Vegan Kefir Cultures?, ?Includes: Bifidobacterium, Lactobacillus Acidophilus, Lactobacillus Bulgaricus, Lactobacillus Rhamnosus

Better range of bugs than Actimel?

**Just found this! They use the milk grains (some in the freezer somewhere)

Edit** You must ensure that the grains are put back into dairy milk at least one in every 3 brews otherwise they will perish

Thanks for sharing - I’ll have to give that a try next time I’m feeling flush. I find the dairy-based Biotiful kefir to be quite delicious, but would prefer a non-dairy option.

I used to make my own kefir at home for years. I loved it but my family, not so much. I did use cow's ws milk though. However you can buy the starter grain and make water kefir at home, I think a lot of people use coconut water for taste.

I've never tried it an I've seen some opinions that it's not as potent as milk kefir, but if you're dairy free it might be an option. It's so much cheaper than buying it from the shops. And also I believe it has to be pasteurised in the UK before being mass produced. Which will kill off the beneficial bacteria. Which is the whole point of it 😃

I've made them all in the past, I was lucky as I could get green milk, water version quite dear with the amount of sugar required... I'd love to have a go at oat kefir if anyone see's any grains available 🙏

I too make my own kefir, can't say that I am mad on the taste butI know it is good stuff for the gut. However my grains are very small, they just don't seem to grow any more. I would like to buy some more grains from a reliable safe source have you any suggestions please?

I just bought some from a seller on Amazon. I used full fat milk and my grains grew very rapidly. So much so I had too many but didnt know anyone else to pass them onto.

My grains used to grow rapidly too, really don't know what is happening as I haven't changed anything. I also use full fat milk. Have p.m.'d you.

Seem to remember that mine started off all full of vigour and then slowed down... not sure if they will come back to life having been frozen for 18 months 😕

Bought mine from here a couple of years ago. Never used my own grains before so called them and they were lovely helpful people

Two years on and the grains are looking a bit sad but still producing nice quality kefir. In the beginning I had to keep giving them away because they grew very quickly

I have SIBO and don’t seem to be able to tolerate Kefir. However Tim’s Dairy,s do a live culture yogurt I can have and they have just brought out a limited addition caramelised banana which is rather yummy. Again available in Waitrose.
