Welcome to the forum
Can you tell us a little more
How long have you been diagnosed as hypothyroid and on levothyroxine
Do you have autoimmune thyroid disease also called Hashimoto’s, usually diagnosed by high thyroid antibodies
What were full thyroid results and ranges
TSH, Ft4 and Ft3
Do you always test thyroid levels early morning, ideally around 9am and last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test
Do you always get same brand levothyroxine at each prescription
What vitamin supplements are you currently taking
When were vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12 levels last tested
How much was levothyroxine dose increased by?
Thank you SlowDragonI am having subclinical hypothyroidism. It was diagnosed in 2017 since then i am taking levothyroxine. My tsh fluctuate and t4 always remain same.
I do my thyroid test early morning at 7am and last dose 24 hours before test.
My pharmacist always give me different brands of levothyroxine.
I had done thyroid test in august it was 5.29 i was taking levothyroxine 100 mg then dr increased from 100 to 112.5mg. Vitamin D ,folate,ferritin,b12 levels were low then dr advised me to take vitmin d for one month.i took.
I done my last thyroid test before fet 28th of October and result was 7.79.on the day of transfer my embryologist told me your result came abnormal and i am gonna increase your dose from 112.5 to 150 mg.
Vitamin D ,folate,ferritin,b12 levels were low
How low exactly ?
How much vitamin D are you currently taking
What was prescribed to improve low folate, B12
These need retesting
Need full iron panel test for anaemia including ferritin too
I done these tests in end of august before start the ivf procedure and dr said to me yes your body is ready jyst take vitamin d 1000 for one month.i took for 2months
1.B12 300ng/L
Normal range(197-1000ng/L)
2.Folate 2.6 ug/L
Normal range(3.8-9999ug/L)
3.Ferritin 149 ug/L
Normal range(13-150ug/L)
4.serum total 25-OH Vitamin D level
39nmol/L
5.haemoglobin estimation 136 g/dL
Normal range(120-150g/dL)
But your folate was deficient
B12 inadequate
Vitamin D insufficient
GP was obligated to prescribe folic acid for low folate
Did they do so?
Vitamin D insufficient. GP obligated to prescribe 1600iu daily for 6 Months
See these NHS Guidelines on dose vitamin D required
ouh.nhs.uk/osteoporosis/use...
GP will often only prescribe to bring vitamin D levels to 50nmol.
Some areas will prescribe to bring levels to 75nmol or even 80nmol
leedsformulary.nhs.uk/docs/...
GP should advise on self supplementing if over 50nmol, but under 75nmol (but they rarely do)
mm.wirral.nhs.uk/document_u...
But with Hashimoto’s, improving to around 80nmol or 100nmol by self supplementing may be better
pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/218...
vitamindsociety.org/pdf/Vit...
Once you Improve level, very likely you will need on going maintenance dose to keep it there.
Test twice yearly via NHS private testing service when supplementing
Vitamin D mouth spray by Better You is very effective as it avoids poor gut function.
There’s a version made that also contains vitamin K2 Mk7.
One spray = 1000iu
amazon.co.uk/BetterYou-Dlux...
Strongly recommend getting vitamins retested NOW
Tsh normal range From 0.27 to 4.2(Mine is 7.79)
T4 normal range. From 10.5 to 24.5
( Mine is 15.2)
I won’t comment on the thyroid results, am sure others will do so. Good that you got a big increase though. It needs to be carefully monitored if your ET is successful.
It’s the Folate result I’m picking up on - Did they not tell you to take Folic acid? I’d do that immediately as it’s extremely important in pregnancy.
V best of luck in your IVF journey

Are you having embryo transfer next Monday or had it done last Monday
Low folate needs correcting urgently
nhs.uk/conditions/vitamin-b...
nhsinform.scot/illnesses-an...
Embryo transfer done last mondayI am taking
1 . levothyroxine 150mg
2. estradiol 6mg
3.pregnacare supplement
4.immune booster tablet 1000(from holland & barret)
5.progestrone injection
6.clotting injection
7.folic acid 5mg
8. pessaries 3 times( viginally)
Good luck
Work out which brand levothyroxine suits you best and always get same brand levothyroxine at each prescription
Does your pregnacare supplement contain B12 to help improve low B12 levels
Do you have autoimmune thyroid disease also called Hashimoto’s usually diagnosed by high thyroid antibodies
If you have Hashimoto’s, are you on strictly gluten free diet. If not get coeliac blood test done via GP before considering trialing strictly gluten free diet
Yes pregnacare supplement before conception used to take 1 month before tranfer and now after tranfer started pregnacare through all pregnancy.contains all the vitamins folic acid b12.
I never test thyroid antibodies . my gp dr diagnosed in 2017 through tsh and t4 tests that i have subclinical hypothyroidism.
Once i request to my gp dr that i want to fix my tsh before start the ivf treatment i am really very concerned please referral me to endocrinologist.he reffered but endocrinologist send the letter to my gp she doesn't need to.it can be control through the medication to adjust her dose.☹
Your thyroid disease is no longer sub-clinical with that TSH but your embryologist is treating it appropriately by raising your dose. Take the higher dose right away (don’t wait to see GP or anything). And make sure they monitor you closely now. Try not to worry too much, I know it’s hard though.
Thanks love ..thanks for your support yes i am with embryologist advise aswell taking 150mg.told the whole story to my gp dr he said i cant raise this much i discuss with my colleagues then msg u and he sent a message i have increased to 125mg and collect it from your chemist.
