Hi, thank you for your responses. I will contact my gp re changing my prescription to 2 x 25mg of mercury supplier, As I am still getting headaches from change of supplier from mercury 50mg to accord 50mg, . I contacted the Advanz phone number today on this site, a lady gave me the name of a supplier whom may supply mercury, but the warehouse did not have any in at all. The Advanz lady told me to email back if I had problems still getting mercury, which I have done. Is Mercury 2 x 25mg, the same as a 50mg one. I no the strength would be the same, but worried re the fillers. A double amount. Thankyou for your assistance and help

Try the smaller independent pharmacies…..often can access different suppliers

Have you tried online pharmacies

2 x 25mcg should be fine if you can’t get 50mcg

Or try for 100mcg tablets- and cut in half to get 50mcg

How long have you been on only 50mcg ?

could you tell me do you live in Scotland is it only in Scotland you can’t get Mercury Pharma or is it the same in England there is still 25s in Scotland but no 50s but the use by dates are getting lower and soon the 25s will disappear is advance still producing Mercury Pharma or are they just want what’s left used up as they keep saying there is no shortage so why can’t we get them in Scotland it could be because MP is a bit dearer but pharmacies can claim back the extra cost so what is going on.

I live in Glasgow and am still getting Mercury 25s (at least in my last fulfilment anyway).

Try calling Boots at the Gorbals, they're generally very helpful ...once you get through.

thank you so what happens when the25s are no longer available The MHRA put out guidance not to switch patients and keep them on the same brand they do well on what a joke not many pharmacies even have 50sand25s of the same brand even if you did find another that you could take wee are still in communication with our health minister about getting Mercury Pharma back but I won’t hold my breath getting anything back from him.

I’m the same. Mercury Pharma is the only one I can tolerate - it’s written on the script. My pharmacy just said 100mcgs not available and to try elsewhere. Other pharmacist said he’s struggling to get it but suspects Eltroxin which is also made by Advanz will have the same formulation. I checked the PIL and the ingredients are the same! He can’t get that either!!He tried several suppliers and the answer was no from all of them. I’ve reluctantly tried 1 month’s supply of Accord (been on it 1 week) but I don’t think they are the same strength, even though they are supposed to be. I’m hoping it’s just my body adjusting.

It’s so frustrating having to deal with this as well as trying to get liothyronine prescribed and all the ridiculousness around that. I’ll just see how I go. I might have to top up another 25mcg of Mercury to top up the 100mcg of Accord and 25mcg Mercury that I’m taking. At least I don’t have itching or the IBS symptoms of Wockhardt and Teva.

I don’t understand why advanz keep saying there is plenty MP when no one can get it I know it’s a bit dearer than some others I managed to get 50s today got the last two packs the pharmacist says he could be reembursed for the extra for MP but doesn’t bother and I can imagine why probably has mountains of paperwork to fill in I don’t know why MP don’t reduce the price as suppliers don’t seem to be buying It.

Have been really frustrated this week, I have been on Mercury Pharma Lithyronine for some years now but the pharmacy announced that they can no longer supply it due to a buy out of the company. I have looked to see what is going on but not easy to decipher among the many strands of names involved. Is anyone else having this issue, I go to a Lloyds Pharmacy and wonder if their wholsalers are no longer stocking it. Any advice of how to fight this? MAny thanks all!
