Can anyone help here as I

I am currently taking 100mg of levothyroxine and have been hypothyroid since 1996.

The FT4 & FT3 look low & TSH too high.

Do you have exact ranges? They vary between labs so to give an accurate interpretation please add them.

Do you alway have same brand of levo?

Had any changes to time you take replace, altered diet, new medication or supplements?

 What are your usual levels?

Is 100mcg your usual dose?

Ask for 25mcg daily increase and retest in 6 weeks, is there way to message doctor and ask if you can start now and not wait another fortnight?

Are you having hypothyroid symtoms?

Please add reference ranges that came with your results so that we can interpret them, ranges vary from lab to lab.

Did you do your test as we always advise, ie

* No later than 9am

* Water only before the test (nothing to eat, no coffee, tea, etc.)

* Last dose of Levo 24 hours before test, if you take NDT or T3 split dose the day before and take last part of dose 8-12 hours before test

* No biotin, B Complex or any other supplement containing biotin for 3-7 days before test

Is your TSH really 12.6 or is that a typo?

How do you feel?

Contact GP surgery tomorrow and request GP look at results and that they increase your prescription to 125mcg per day

Which brand of levothyroxine is your 100mcg levothyroxine tablet?

Ideally stay on same brand for the 25mcg extra

Request GP test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12 levels now …..so that you get results BEFORE consultation on 19th

Thyroid levels should be retested 6-8 weeks after increasing to 125mcg daily

Have you had thyroid antibodies tested for autoimmune thyroid disease also called Hashimoto’s…….at any previous blood test?

About 90% of primary hypothyroidism is autoimmune thyroid disease

My brand of levothyroxine is accord. Normal range for T3 is 3.5-6.5. T4 Normal range is 10.0-20.0. TSH Normal range is 0.55-4.78. My bloods were taken at 9.25am but I did have breakfast but no meds. I know my TSH level is abnormal as that it was it said on Patient Access. I can view my records on line. In 2009 my doctor told me the thyroid antibodies confirm that I have autoimmune thyroiditis.

FT4: 12.4 pmol/l (Range 10 - 20)

Ft4 is only 24.00% through range

FT3: 3.9 pmol/l (Range 3.5 - 6.5)

Ft3 is only 13.33% through range

Most people when adequately treated will have Ft4 and Ft3 at least 50-60% through range

Request GP increase dose levothyroxine by 25mcg now and bloods retested 6-8 weeks after increasing

As you normally get Accord brand……Accord don’t make 25mcg tablets

Request 50mcg tablets and cut in half to get 25mcg

Meanwhile request/insist on testing vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12 levels

What vitamin supplements are you currently taking
