My doctors surgery has just contacted re my request to increase my Levothyroxine.

They have booked me in for blood tests early tomorrow. The message from the Doctor was that it is not a good idea to increase my medication when I am within the 'normal range' ( TSH was 1.2) in May. So aswell as Thyroid she is testing me for other things that may be causing my symptoms. ☹ This is all going to be a waste of time as the results will be the same. At least I will get a telephone consultation with the doctor when the results are back. I feel my argument will fall on deaf ears.

Should I leave off my Levothyroxine tonight and take it after bloods tomorrow?

Feeling dejected 😥

What vitamin supplements are you currently taking

Vit D3, K2 and Magnesium which I haven't taken today and Apple Cider Vinagar. They didnt give me any notice re blood test.

if you had been taking vitamin B complex which contains biotin you would have had to rebook

Biotin can falsely affect test results and you need to stop any supplements that contain biotin 4-7 days before test

Would this include the Bs found in Marmite?

good question…..ingredients list does divulge which B vitamins are added

Probably too small a dose to worry about

Marmite isn’t gluten free

Sainsbury version is gluten free

Does the Sainsbury's version taste the same as Marmite do you know?

I tried the Australian Vegemite once, it was vile!

I like it

It’s not exactly same as marmite but it’s good

Worth a try

they will only measure TSH levels. Would these be affected?

Just testing TSH is completely inadequate

Refuse to reduce dose levothyroxine and get FULL thyroid and vitamin testing done yourself privately

List of private testing options and money off codes

thyroiduk.org/getting-a-dia...

Medichecks Thyroid plus antibodies and vitamins

medichecks.com/products/adv...

Blue Horizon Thyroid Premium Gold includes antibodies, cortisol and vitamins

bluehorizonbloodtests.co.uk...

Only do private testing early Monday or Tuesday morning. Last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test

Watch out for postal strikes, probably want to pay for guaranteed 24 hours delivery

How presumptuous to assume you can make it to a blood test tomorrow.

Remember—you can always say it’s inconvenient and ask for another time.

To be honest I was to astonished to have any contact from them at all. They are so short staffed they don't seem to be responding to anything at the moment.
