Seasonal T3+T4 value drop?

this has been happening for 2 years in a row now. Could only tell by symptoms last year but this year I tested every 2 weeks and sure enough its happening again.

Last year I was started on thyroid medication. From mid may I was on 4 grains NDT. This continued for almost a year. The first few months up till August every symptoms was taken care of. Cone September everything gets worse. Turns out thathat where my 4 grains first brought be to the top of the range for t3 and t4, they dropped. Up till the winter and spring my t3 was never more than 4, t4 as low as 11.

At a review in may I was put on 6 grains and again, my levels finally get top of the range: t3 6.2, t4 20.

I got these numbers from june onwards until the last test on the 23rd of august.

I test again on the 5th of September and still on 6 grains, taken the same waway at the same time, my t3 has now dropped to 4.2, t4 to 17.

Has anyone noticed such marked seasonal changes and what have you done to manage? Thanks so much

Ps: I dont have hashimoto, just dio1polymorphism so cant convert

hi just wondering if you test your vitamin D, that can fluctuate seasonally too. Or/and…. Are there any emotional stressors in August annually that could impact your hypo symptoms? It took me 12 months to realise (as a teacher) that hitting the school holidays at 100 miles an hour trying to fit too much stuff in was meaning 3 days into Spring break, half term breaks and summer holidays I was in bed with’flu’ symptoms. This summer I lazed about for 3 days instead and took it steady and feel so much better. Plus I’m supplementing B12 D eating Liver weekly following an AI diet. Wishing you an easier autumn 🍂🦋💚🦋

thank you ❤️ I do supplement vit d and last test it was actually atiny bit over range. Also take a bconplex (unless im doing a blood test in which case I stay off of it for3 days) so I know vit and minerals im good. Just like clockwork last year, first week of September I started feeling cooler and true enough, I lost 2 full units of T3, 4 of t4 :( hope to figure this out soon

It could be light related ... eg. SAD... melatonin and seritonin levels.

is it not just a wee bit early for SAD. We are still having more than 12 hours of light daily. I thought it was a winter thing but I could be wrong. Jo xx

yeah it doesnt seem necessarily dépendant on light, if anything on temperature and there's was a drop last week. Though I wonder if it's seasonal as in circadian

My daughter has a marked need for more Thyroid every year when the weather shifts. I didn’t notice the pattern until my husband said that she never attends school the week after Thanksgiving! Which is when our weather shifts here. It doesn’t take much of a change in dose, but it’s clear she needs it.

You've got me thinking now, because all my hypo symptoms that have appeared and that I've been to the Dr's about have happened in the Winter months.

Interesting if there is a seasonal as well as diurnal rhythm... It would not surprise me.
