recent blood results discharged from specialist

hello all I have not been on in a while as irs taken so long to get the bloods taken I needed in one test at same time. In the time since I last posted i have had a scan to check my thyroid nodule and its on left side 2.1cm appearance of a cyst no further investigation required.

My bloods from 6/6/22 were:

and my calcium in urine was 0.934 range 2.5-7

I still have a whole host of symptoms and my other bloods my pth was out of range at 8.9 rather than 2.5

i have been discharged as all results are normal and have only spoken to a parathyroid surgeon and no endrocologist.

However I just wanted to ask if I should be asking anything else especially on the calcium side as the urine results seem low and other calcium results have been below in bloods but this one is in range bizarrely. if anyone has any advise experience or agrees these bloods are all totally normal and I don’t need any further investigations as I don’t trust the gp takes my symptoms seriously.

Pins and needles in hands

Extreme Fatigue

Aches and pains

Brain fog

Sour taste in mouth

Fainted a couple of times

Crampy and achey calves

Voice comes and goes and sometimes trouble swallowing

So you have ferritin deficiency and gluten intolerance

You need FULL thyroid and vitamin testing

For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4 and FT3 plus both TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested.

Very important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12 at least once year minimum

As ferritin is deficient, you need full iron panel test too

Medichecks iron panel test

medichecks.com/products/iro...

About 90% of primary hypothyroidism is autoimmune thyroid disease, usually diagnosed by high thyroid antibodies

Autoimmune thyroid disease with goitre is Hashimoto’s

Autoimmune thyroid disease without goitre is Ord’s thyroiditis.

Both are autoimmune and generally called Hashimoto’s.

Low vitamin levels are extremely common when hypothyroid, especially with autoimmune thyroid disease (Hashimoto’s or Ord’s thyroiditis)

20% of autoimmune thyroid patients never have high thyroid antibodies and ultrasound scan of thyroid can get diagnosis

In U.K. medics hardly ever refer to autoimmune thyroid disease as Hashimoto’s (or Ord’s thyroiditis)

Recommended on here that all thyroid blood tests early morning, ideally before 9am

This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip)

Private tests are available as NHS currently rarely tests Ft3 or all relevant vitamins

List of private testing options and money off codes

Only do private testing early Monday or Tuesday morning

Medichecks Thyroid plus antibodies and vitamins

Blue Horizon Thyroid Premium Gold includes antibodies, cortisol and vitamins

If you can get GP to test vitamins and antibodies then cheapest option for just TSH, FT4 and FT3

£29 (via NHS private service ) and 10% off down to £26.10 if go on thyroid uk for code

Thank you for info it’s really hard to know what you need to do as I feel so awful with symptoms I will look into this tests as my next check should be around sept but I feel like I only have one true set attached as the others have been a farse as only been some of the story. Im going to chart all my results for my own info and to share if a gp will listen to me. Much appreciated for the info

Parathyroid test and investigation

You need parathyroid levels, calcium levels and vitamin D levels tested together

parathyroid.com

And an app to evaluate the results

You need PTH, calcium and vitamin D tested from same blood draw several times for a parathyroid diagnosis. Are you taking any supplements?

Hello no supplements gp said they would not recommend any and diet should be enough…

Your D is on the low side. Can you get tested again in 3 months for PTH, D and calcium ?

Difficult to get PTH test privately as it needs processing straight after blood draw

Can get tested in London

Roughly where in Uk are you

How long ago was high PTH test

The high pth was on 9th May and on 29th April it was lower again at 3.7. Now it’s at 2.5 from the ones posted here. So I don’t really think I know anything from those results? 2 were so close together as my gp did a test that I had already paid for at private hospital locally and they didn’t realise it had been done. So it’s gone from 3.7 - 8.5 - 2.5 all in short time and my calcium in blood has always been around 2.3 and the urine calcium only taken in June was low at 0.9 against range of 2.5-7.I am wondering if my nodule could be causing issues or if they would have been able to visibility see if it was causing an issue from the ultrasound they did? I do not think they could know from sight?

I am in Scotland so hard to travel also hard to get anywhere even private here to do all the tests you need.Do you think an endrocologist apt is justifiable on symptoms and some of the results ?

Suggest you get full thyroid and vitamin testing done first via Medichecks or Blue horizon

Then (depending on results) make an appointment with recommended thyroid specialist

Come back with new post once you get results

Anywhere near Edinburgh?

There’s an endocrinologist on this list

There may be others

Email Thyroid U.K. for list of recommended thyroid specialist endocrinologist and doctors
