Silly question, has anyone else really struggled with Covid, Hypothyroidism and also a Colitis sufferer. I gather i am immunosuppressed, due to having IBD ( Colitis) Dont know if immunosuppressed applies to Hypothyroidism. I am Still testing strongly (8th day Positive after day 0 test!) i dont feel too bad. Still isolating. But got a feeling this could drag on. Anyone else having or had similar experiences.

I think this version of Omicron gives the person who succumbs to it a much higher viral load than those who caught earlier versions.
On Day 5, I got quite panicky about the thick almost purple line I got!
But it’s because this version of Omicron has evolved to make itself really contagious.
It may not be because you’re immuno-suppressed. I’m not immuno-suppressed but I was still testing positive on day 12 (the line finally disappeared on day 13).
I think if you’re feeling reasonably ok you probably are on the mend (will cross my fingers for you).
Can I ask...
What kind of home tests are required these days, and how much do they cost?
Ah, I’m still using the freebies that we used to be able to get.
I managed to get through nearly 2 and a half years without needing to test more than a handful of times. So I still had a fair few in the cupboard.
You can buy them for £1.50 to £2.00 a test. Boots sell them 5 for just under a tenner (there are cheaper ones out there too).
Thanks JazzW. I reckon you are right about the strength of this variant. Strong test lines for me as well. Hopefully i wont nave to sit it out too long. I dont really want to be one of those, that ends up feeling better but still testing positive. Who knows how long this variant is infectious. Kind of annoying i got a new car the day i paid for it (later that day ) i tested positive. Its still in the garage. Health comes first i know. I dont want to feel well, be potentially still infectious, and pass it on. We luckily have a few boxes of test kits. My wife had it test after me. But she is clear. Reckon she had it first.
I’m immune suppressed-( rituximab and solumedrol) and finally tested negative this week- Monday.
Tested positive on July 1 … so was strongly positive about 17 days?
I felt very well for about 4 days about 6 days into it- so likely suffered a paxlovid rebound case.
Hi Wilko91, I don’t have colitis, but do have Hashimotos and tested positive for Covid 10 days after my first positive test. I’ve finally had a negative test (yippee!) & although Im lacking in energy, I do feel increasingly better as time progresses. Sending you very best wishes.
Oh, yes, struggling big time, can't shake the cough and have to sleep sitting up! But I haven't tested positive!!! I too wondered about the veracity of the old tests. I also have problems with colitis and hypo, when I was 'within range' the colitis increased - they gave me Creon to deal with this and it's wonderful, really helps, I do recommend it.
I’ll be honest, I was almost surprised they worked too given how many variants along we are now—but the tests I used (and had stored in a cupboard for over a year) still seem to work exactly how they should.
Equally, I know of at least a few people who had identical symptoms to me and never tested positive (I manage a team of 42 in Birmingham and in the last 5 weeks we’ve nearly all had it). 90% had positive tests but the rest didn’t. Yet we’re fairly sure we all had/have Covid because of sitting together in the office.
Interesting. Family of four nearby all had the same symptoms, 3 tested positive, one not. I had it 3 months ago (+ve for 11 days) and still not normal, even for me. Then partner got it 2 weeks ago with a nice clear +ve test. I felt like I was fighting it, symptomatic although not as bad as the first time, really tired and achy but no +ve test. Tried 4 times while he had it and after he was clear. Can't believe I wouldn't have got it and likely not same variant.
I have been feeling breathless in bed the last 2 nights. Last night was horrible. Just couldn't get a comfortable position. Thought it was the heat but No. Just another side effect to deal with.
I just got over a colitis flare up Dec - Jun. Had a colonoscopy which verified it. Maybe that made me more vulnerable to covid. Oh well.
Hello
I have Hashi's and Colitis and tested positive for Covid back in February. I tested positive for 10 days. What helped me through was Lemsip Max - it got rid of the aches & pains as well as my sore throat and eased my cough too. Hopefully you'll start to feel better soon. xx
