Test from Hospital on 6th July 2022

TSH 1.15mu/L 0.27 to 4.2 R

Free T3 5.13pmo/L 3.1 TO 6.8 R

Free thyroxine 25.4 pmol/L 12.22 R

Cortisol 536

I have asked Dr Richardson to look at your results and he is happy that your TSH is normal as are your other results and also your cortisol, and no further action is needed from an endocrine point of view.

Best wishes

Michelle

are these the results the endo was looking at ? ..i seem to remember that test was done too soon after your increase in dose. How long had you been taking 137.5mcg ( 125/150 alternate) before this test was done?

(you need to be on a dose for 6 weeks before testing, to see what TSH/ fT4 / fT3 levels will be on that dose) .

GP's should know that 2/3 weeks is too soon to re test after a dose increase.

Yes these were done this week along with `Cortisol i did say it was too soon but they did not say anything and said to keep on same dose for 8 to 12 weeks

ok .

to be fair, there is not much the endo could have suggested at this point with those results ,other than point out that FT4 is too high and ask you to reduce dose to 125mcg again.

Assuming you have already tried 125mcg for long enough to know you didn't feel good on that dose , then it does make sense to give this dose a proper try as they suggest .... at least 6 weeks in total, preferably longer, and the retest .

If your fT4 levels are still over range at that point and you don't feel any better, then it would be wise to reduce dose slightly again to get fT4 back into range and then see if anything else can be improved.

True but im going to drop my dose down again to 125mg and try a bit of T3

if you have access to it , then i agree , that's probably preferable to running your fT4 too high .

my 'twopenneth ' of unsolicited advice ......... go slowly ... "less is more .. longer is better" , so when in doubt about T3 adjustments~ wait a bit longer . A lot of people come through here who try adding T3, and many later say they originally went too fast / too much / changed dose too often etc and then had to start all over again at the beginning because they didn't leave long enough allow themselves to settle and utilise the last dose increase fully before increasing dose further. .. or didn't improve 'xyz' properly before adding more T3 .
