After taking t3 for over 8 years with a dose of 25 mcg split into two , I've suddenly over the last 2-3 days noticed that I'm feeling exhausted again .
I took my blood pressure which was fine 118 over 85 with a pulse of 68 , which is actually low for me .
I woke this morning feeling that every muscle in my body had turned to jelly , which ive never experienced before . Also this past week I've been falling asleep around 7.30 most evenings . Normally at around 10pm I seem to have more energy , which I understand isn't uncommon . However that has stopped happening now .
The one thing that has helped is magnesium , but I still don't feel ' right ' . I understand people do have to make alterations to their doses but after so many years it puzzles me . Im actually 74 so maybe a factor ?
If anyone has any suggestions or could shed any light , I'd be so grateful .

Hi Crimple , yes I do get them from abroad , but I’ve been using these from the same batch that I started a few months ago , though maybe I’ll open another bottle just to check . Thanks I hadn’t thought of that !
Before doing anything I would do a thyroid function test to check your levels. MonitorMyHealth is cheapest for just basic TSH /FT4 /FT3 and if you want to do full thyroid and vitamin panel then probably Medichecks Advanced Thyroid Function test is cheapest.
There are so many things that can cause fatigue, there may be something else happening. Have you had your blood sugar checked? Also iron. Maybe a good time for a general checkup, including blood test for T4 and T3 to see if you need to change the dose. I also get more energy late in the evening. I take thyroxine three days a week, and natural thyroid 4 days a week, this combination seems to keep my blood levels about right. Hope you find out what is causing this new fatigue, and a way to treat it.
It's called Metavive, and is produced by a British company I think it's called The Natural Health Company. It's about £25 a bottle. I've been taking it for a few years. They do both porcine and bovine natural thyroid. It is natural desiccated thyroid sourced from British abattoirs. When I take it every day, my T3 blood test is a bit high, and T4 a bit low, so I take it on alternate days with levothyroxine prescribed by my doctor. Wish you all the best.
Hi Pink , that was one of my thoughts but I do take a small amount of NDT too , so I think having thyroid levels checked . However I do agree that I need to check blood sugars , thank you for your input .
If its not your latest batch of thyroid meds causing the prob Id also get your doctor to check your B12 level. As we age we are less able to absorb b12 so our levels drop. B12 symptoms can be insidious and wide raging but fatigue, weakness, blurred vision are common. Have a look at the b12d.org they have a great symptom checker.
Re B12 - has your doctor checked (before you supplemented with B12) that you do not have pernicious anaemia. If somemone has this condition they can only absorb B12 if GP gives regular B12 injections.
I did too....take b22 supplements but they stopped working for me had to move across to jabs.....see Shaws. So good to check it in any case. I kept thinking mine was thyroid until other symptoms started.
Hi, I'm actually due a health check next week I think so I'll ask whilst I'm there thank you although I had a whole load of blood tests done before lock down .
Ahhh Ive had one of those recently. They do not test B12 routinely so GP will need to make a seperate request. Like someone else said maybe its a bad batch of thyroid meds.
