thyroid S instead of ERFA

Hi

I am on 3 grains of ERFA and considering changing over to thyroid S, mainly to save some money. I cant believe how expensive Armour and ERFA are thee days.

My questions are.

1. Is it as good as ERFA and should I dose it like for like ie 3 Grains ERFA equals 3 Grains thyroid S etc

2. I remember looking at the ingredients of various NDT's and seem to remember their may be more fillers and chemicals in Thyroid S. Of course I prefer to put as little fillers /chemicals etc in to my body as poss.

All views welcome, thank you

Hi I had my thyroid removed back in 2015 and for the first six months after took Levo. I became very ill and then joined this site. Since then I have been taking thyroid s. The only time I took Armour was during covid when my supply of thyroid s could not be purchased. I am well on thyroid s and lead a very healthy lifestyle I am never allergic to anything in this NDT. The cost is £165 for 500 tablets I have just purchased more and take 2.5 per day. I am nearly 76 years old.

The price of Thyroid S has soared dramatically, you used to get 1000 tabs for less than half that price. But it's understandable I suppose.

Thyroid S has a LOT of fillers, but it doesn't seem to bother the vast majority who take it. It did me however. I developed hives, terrible insomnia, and itchy skin. A doctor specialising in Thyroid in the UK told me he doesn't like his patients to take it for that reason. Apparently the more fillers you add to a thyroid medicine, the more you increase the possibility of hormone level variability from tablet to tablet or from box to box.

There could be some truth in this, or the doctor could be trying to preserve his income stream. I put equal money on both.

That said, I found it very potent and it brought my labs to perfection. It is a very effective product. Slightly better than Erfa in my personal opinion. I unfortunately had to stop taking it though.

If you can tolerate it, that would be a good thing and a more cost effective solution. It's definitely worth a trial.

Yes I am lucky I don't have bad reactions to hardly anything, fillers, etc. Thank you
