Testing and results

Hi everyone, So this may be a dumb question but I am asking anyways. I took my thyroid panel tests and I left 24hrs between levothyroxine but I screwed up and took my last dose of liothyroine at 3pm which was longer than the 10 to 12 hr mark. My test was at 8:45am. So my question is will my liothyroine results read high or low? My t4 value is 0.90 ranges(0.76-1.46) tsh value is <0.01 ranges(0.36-3.74) t3 value is 3.9 ranges(2.2-4.0) I feel pretty good other than being a little achy at times but I think I need more vitamin D results are my value 47ng/ml standard range is 30-100 ng/ml so that could be why I am achy. Thanks in advance for the help.

Time gap for last dose of T3 is 8-12 hours. So if your test was 8.45am then last dose should have been between 8.45pm the night before and 12.45am.

By taking last dose at 3pm the time gap was almost 18 hours so your FT3 is showing a false low result.

With FT3 result of 3.9 (2.2-4.0) and this being a false low result, your result with the advised time gap will be higher and probably over range but we can't tell you by how much.

When on a combination of Levo plus T3 it's always a case of we are all individual as to where we need our FT4 and FT3 levels. I don't know if your T4 result is Total T4 or Free T4 (Total T4 is not a useful test, it's Free T4 that is more useful) but whichever it is it's fairly low in range and you might benefit from it being higher in range so maybe tweaking your doses might help - a bit more Levo and a bit less T3.

The Vit D Society and Grassroots Health recommend a level of 40-60ng/ml with a recent blog post on Grassroots Health recommending at least 50ng/ml. Are you taking magnesium and Vit K2-MK7 - the recommended cofactors when taking D3?

Thank you SeasideSusie for explaining that to me. I figured my mistake in the timing of taking my meds for the test will workout good for me at least the doctor won’t change my liothyroine dose and I can self adjust at home. I do take Vit K2 MK7 at bedtime and my vitamin D four hrs after my levothyroxine should I be taking them at the same time? Thanks for your help

No, not necessarily. It's best to keep them away from each other as they're both fat soluble and will compete for fat to be absorbed.

If both are, say, oil based supplements they have their own fat and could be taken at the same time. But if the supplements don't contain any fat then take at different times of the day but with some dietary fat for absorption.
