If your free T4 is a little below the midrange, will your T3 likely be midrange or below as well?( I didnt get my T3 tested last visit but I am next time)...Is it rare for t4 to be midrange and T3 to be above the midrange at the same time?

No it is not rare. Each individual, whether on thyroid hormones or not, has their own unique solution to the best outcome, given the circumstances. One shouldn't concentrate where you are in the ranges, but ask yourself, is this particular level of T4 giving me an adequate response and better health. The great fallacy of thyroid medicine is to diagnose patients by the reference range (i.e. if it is in there anywhere then that's the correct dose). The individual is an anecdote not a statistic, and just being "in range" means nothing as regards best treatment.

Thank you, that is helpful... I shouldn't get obsessed with ranges. I'll just push to keep raising the dose until I feel right or until I feel hyperthyroid...I am on an antidepressant so that complicates things a bit. I have been able to lower the dose of the antidepressant since I raised my levothyroxine dose from 50 to 200 in the last few months... Although I still wouldnt describe myself as stable or happy. But definitely much better

Thank you Diogenes. You are hired as my Dr. I wish all Dr's would have the same mind set and expertise as yourself. The world would be in a much better place.

😬you are on 200mcgs Levo only? Perhaps you could post the results of your latest blood tests ( FT4 FT3 TSH) . This will help forum members to give advice.

Do you have any results of tests for Vit b 12/folate/ferritin/Vit D. ?

It’s important for thyroid health and Levo absorption to have these at optimal levels.

Post a bit more information and members will assist

So can you post your latest blood test results with the ranges and I’m sure advice will follow?

See below ~ 10 healthy people (no thyroid medication) fT4/fT3 /TSH results shown as '% through lab ref range'.. see how different they all are for fT4/fT3 /TSH '% through range' .. some have higher fT3 than fT4, some don't, some have both over 50% . some have both closer to 25%.

People on levo will obviously get a slightly altered pattern to what they had in health . (often relatively lower TSH to relatively higher fT4 / relatively lower fT3 ) But considering they were all this individual in health , i would expect them them to still be this individual on levo ....
